Re: Elvis & The Imposters with Nick Lowe & Los Straitjackets, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Woodinville, WA, June 9, 2023

Great set. Bummed we didn’t get Nick on stage with Elvis but a lot of great songs and new variations on old classics. Elvis savagely dismissed someone screaming for Alison early in the set. Asking if they need to get home to their mommy and if so they can play it now so they can go instead of the “f...

Re: Green Day covers Alison (1997 outtake)

The few minor lyrical changes puzzle me - I think Billie Joe sang it as “fickle valentine” on that VH1 event, too. I remember a younger me being quite miffed one would dare mess up the king’s lyrics in his very presence. Now I’m sure there’s a reason for it but I still refuse to like it. I do ...

Re: The Songs of Bacharach & Costello: collection based on Painted From Memory, March 3, 2023

I was wondering if I was being too prickly, so I’m relieved to see the same reaction here. That box set is just way overpriced, and it’s not the first silly value proposition in the past 10-15 years. I‘ll get the double vinyl, but that price hike for the added CDs and what not is just too much. Hone...

Really mystified why these gimmicky, opportunistic releases are being punted out to “specialist” vinyl imprints by WB. These are CD era recordings that took advantage of the larger canvas. Sorry if I missed it - but there’s been a lot of mention of Elvis’s reaction to the crowd but not specifics. Aside from the comment about not wanting any pity, was there anything he specifically said that people are taking offense to?

Missed another thread on the Pump It Up video - my bad. Hopefully the other videos justify this threads existence or else feel free to merge or delete.

Produce Like A Pro - Pete Thomas

Hadn’t seen this posted. There’s a YouTube channel “produce like a pro” that covers and teaches about music production. The last few videos have all featured Pete. The first two listed are probably the most interesting for EC fans. “Behind the Kit” - convo with Pete - lots of great stories from Pete...

Until watching that video today, I didn't know EC is left handed. I guess I haven't been paying attention for the past 44 years.
This is completely blowing my mind.

The number of preorder bundles seems meager compared to the last couple. I suppose that could be because it's so early on. Might save me from myself buying some other bundle variation on top of another after a bit too much to drink. I would like something with the vinyl + cd + book, though. Like to ...

Anyone heard or have any thoughts on the remaster?

I'm tepid on Spanish Model, but I might grab both if the remaster is worth it.

I'm feeling defensive because I was about 18 at the time and got into our boy through.... When I Was Cruel. Saw them play the video to Radio, Radio on 120 Minutes on MTV2 and went straight to his latest album. It's funny to think of myself as a newer fan having been immersed in Elvis for the 20 year...

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

I finally received mine a couple weeks ago here in Seattle. It spent over a month with no tracking update like it had been lost in the mail, which led to multiple emails to Second City noting my concern about a limited item I bought through them seemingly not arriving. Granted, it wasn't their fault...

Cool stuff, as usual. This is interesting: “The Delivery Man”, a record I had briefly considered calling, “South”. The sequel to North? I remember him saying this on tour prior to the record coming out - may have even been the North tour. The crowd definitely took it as a joke, and it seemed that's...

Hard to think of anything that brought me more joy than enjoying the Steve Nieve virtual performances and the buildup to Hey Clockface on here this year.

First thing I do after getting through my work email each day is seeing what is going on here. :)

Agree with topbalc and Hawk...except for the part about these recent records equaling EC's 70s-80s stuff. That's crazy talk. But yes! How lucky are we that he's not only still active, but doing interesting and different work here in 2020. It's a blessing. I long ago reconciled myself to the reality...

Re: "Secret Jewish history"?

This is an utterly bizarre and insulting closing statement. Costello is known in some circles for his support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement’s cultural boycott of Israel. Perhaps the origins of Costello’s anti-Israeli feelings date back to a failed romance he writes about wi...

Re: New album Hey Clockface will be released October 30, 2020

I gave it a half listen late last night before falling asleep (it's been a long week). My prediction was this would be a sort of modern "Spike" based on what we had heard to this point - a bit uneven and all over the place. It definitely veers here and there, but I can't confirm my initial...
