Re: Fernwood Tonight
Very funny show. I guess you would say it is satire on morning TV and cable access shows. If you like the humor of Martin Mull it is worth checking out.

How do you handle hidden tracks?
A few days ago, I downloaded Black Prairie's A Tear in the Eye is a Wound in the Heart . It is very good; half instrumental tracks with banjo and accordian. The last track is a nineteen minute long hidden track. The first five minute is a full song with vocals, followed by ten minutes of silence, fo...

Re: Recently viewed films
Saw two excellent movies this week. Quartet was very, very good. Good characters, good acting, a good story, a witty screenplay. A nice ensemble piece. Hyde Park on the Hudson is a good movie. Bill did a wonderful job as FDR. You may think that JFK had a stronghold as lothario of the White House, bu...

The Moth
I had a plan to go to the theatre last night to see The Moth. I like to listen to their podcast of people telling stories about a single theme. I was surprised when I showed up to the venue to see a long line running around the theatre. It was sold out and so I went to a bar and got some Mardi Gras ...

Wouldn't it be ironic if there was a civil war because of this issue? A war fought with guns about the right to carry arms.

I went to a tribute of Marvin Hamlish here in Pittsburgh at Heinz Hall. Marvin conduted the POPS for several seasons. I don't know if he lived here, but his wife said they enjoyed it here. The hall was packed(app 27,00) and many Broadway stars sang selections written by Marvin. Lucie Arnez and Rober...

Re: I want to expand my jazz collection
I don't know why I came bace onto this thread, but thank you JOAP, and everyone else, for the suggestions. My jazz collection has grown by two dozen. I'm enjoying Stan Getz, Sarah Vaughn, Monk, Coltrane, Corea, Tatum, etc.. One of my favorite jazz pianist is Pittsburgh"s own Erroll Garner

Re: Recent CD Purchases
After catching Kat Edmondson on Austn City Limits, I knew how I would spend my iTunes gift card. Ms. Edmondson has a twangy, yet jazzy voice. 'Way Down Low', her second indepdent release is filled with relaxing, smooth tunes. Everything I've read about her compares her to Billie Holiday and I agree.

Re: New Gig Thread
Martha was great!! Just her and her guitar. She has a great voice. She played for an hour an half. Well worth the $14 price of the ticket. There were a few concerts going on in Pgh last night. At a club across the street was Supersuckers, another part of town was Citizen Cope, and, lastly, was the p...

Re: My niece is on "Treme"
I do like the show Treme and I am pleased to say I have been to some of the locations featured on the show. The show does a good job in capturing the spirit of NOLA. However, I think the show has lost some of it's lustre because the show has become targeted towards the people of New Orleans and the ...

Re: All Along The Watchtower
My Christmas/Hanukkah mix cd will be an entire cd consisting only of versions of 'All Along The Watchtower". There are hundreds of versions of the song. I attempted to find the versions that were different, but not too radically different, from the original. I also wanted to stay away from the ...
