CWR -- it's posts like this that have kept me from writing at length about Elvis. I can't seem to organize my thoughts and opinions into anywhere near as coherent a statement as the ones you make. Well done, sir.

Re: National Ransom - New Album Due Nov. 2

Got my copy in the mail today! Hoping 'Ransack' follows in my email soon. I have studiously avoided listening to any version of any of these songs, except for the three downloads I got when I purchased it and 'The Spell You Cast' free download. Needless to say, I'm anxious to give it a spin. These ...

The only thing that comes to mind is "Rockestra", which was used for two tracks on Wings' Back To The Egg LP. Here's the studio version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6g1DDiLyQZk and a live version from the Concerts for Kampuchea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQrLZFXTl58 Both only featu...

John and George got identical Gibson acoustics in 1963, but John used both onstage. One was stolen that year, so John got a later model as a replacement. That was was eventually painted psychedelic, then stripped to its natural finish. That one was on loan recently to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ...

Re: National Ransom - New Album Due Nov. 2

Just listened to the whole album through following the lyrics as printed on Elvis' site and there are loads of differences! It's been like that at least since Delivery Man (when the lyrics showed up online before the album came out). I should think he'd publish them the way he sang them, but what d...

Re: Next arcive release

My guess is that, at some point, EC will start making shows available for paid download. Or maybe he'll make limited edition releases like Rhino Handmade does. This series blew it by releasing concerts that were too similar to one another... I've been saying he should do the direct route for years....

Re: National Ransom - New Album Due Nov. 2

I think the big gap between the US and international release date HAS to have something to do with Elvis wanting this one out on Election Day. Otherwise, why not just put it out in early October everywhere? I thought about that. I suppose it's a possibility. That sort of thing made sense when REM p...

Yes, very interesting musically. And lyrically evasive enough to keep from being too depressing, as noted here:

That's two strong songs so far. I already like it better than SP&S.
