Great show in San Diego last night! I'll provide a few more details later this week. I highly recommend going to see them in LA of SF if you can.

Re: Imperial Bedroom & Other Chambers 2017 US Tour

Hi folks, I have a question about getting tix for San Diego. Is there a way to get them through fan club or elsewhere and avoid the high ticketmaster fees? The presale is this Thursday, but the link takes me to TM :(. Thanks! EDIT: I went to fan site and it turns out the presale on there had just st...

Another vote for She... it pains me that this one was in a hit movie and had so much exposure.

Re: Elvis in Songwriters Hall of Fame , June 9 2016

Took a quick look at past inductees, jeez I don't know even half of the names. That's on me, I'm sure many of these folks were good. However, for the names I do know, they sure seem to take longer than expected to get in. Bowie not until 2005? Marley not until 2010? EC not until now!?! Weak!!! And j...

Re: Elvis (solo) plays San Diego , April 7 2016

Great show, the first review summed it up well IMO. Never seen such a rapt and attentive audience at a concert; good job fellow San Diegans! I didn't think his voice was having noticeable troubles, but what do I know? Musical highlights for me were Clowntime is Over (on piano) and Tonight the Bottle...

Agree, it's fantastic. As I mentioned a while back, he's got that "relaxed" voice on this song which really hits the spot for me these days. Melody and lyrics are amazing too.

Re: What do you believe attracts you to EC over other artist

I just wanted to chime in to endorse the sentiments of Poor Deportee, very well said! There is so much to love about Elvis, but the combination of rock n' roll bravado juxtaposed against the most gut wrenching frailties and vulnerably is so compelling.

Re: Elvis/Imposters, San Diego , April 16 '12

I attended with my 8 year old daughter, her first concert! I thought it was a great show musically; the sound was very good and the set list was pretty solid. Highlights for me were Jimmie (which didn't surprise me) and Harry Worth (which sort of did). He ended Jimmie with a stanza from Brother Can ...

Re: Other artists' songs that remind you of EC

No one's mentioned Graham Parker & the Rumor.... is that too obvious? Or am I too old? Anyway, GP slightly predates Elvis and I recall critics making the comparison when EC arrived on the scene. I'm sure the message boards would have as well, had they existed.

Hey folks, thanks for the suggestions. May be too much for one CD, but good stuff to know if he continues to progress. The bit I've seen of him suggests he has a good aptitude for it.

Pete's best work?

My neighbor's kid has taken up the drums and I am making him a CD of songs that I feel have good/unique drumming. Which EC songs would you choose, keeping in mind that he's only 12 years old so I'd like to pick songs with lyrics that won't traumatize the lad. My initial thought in terms of EC is TYM...

I think it's great that he got in shape, but I wonder what he thinks about this line now:

Worrying about your physical fitness
Tell me how you got this sickness

Re: Elvis & The Imposters, Los Angeles, May 11, 2011

Maybe we'll get a gig in San Diego. It's been a while sine he played here with the band. Not getting up hopes, though. Last time he played here it was at 4th and B, a big concrete box, and the local critic skewered the acoustics. On the other hand, same critic named his 2010 solo concert at the Balb...

Re: A Voice In The Dark

Still exploring the album but I do know that I absolutely LOVE this song too! In regard to the style, to paraphase Elvis, I think we COULD call this unexpected. The lyrics and EC's delivery are positively stunning. I smile ear-to ear every time I hear this: I’m flat as sole, I’m happy as a clam But ...

I'd like to see a "book" exchange.... Elvis doing When I Write the Book and Nick doing Every Day I Write the Book. Also American Squirm!

I'll be at the early show too. Having a drink at the nearby Amsterdam Cafe at 6 if anyone wants to stop by. I'll have a bright orange Elvis button on :).

SF Meetup Friday 1 Oct

Anyone interested in a meetup before the Elvis-Nick concert this Friday? If so, the Amsterdam Cafe 1 block away looks good. No food served, but you they allow you to bring it in. Doors at GAMH open at 7:30, so maybe a meetup at 6?

C'mon jmm, I need answers and I need them NOW! Just kidding! I'm dying to know if it's happening as suggested above and who the other artist would be. I made it to the 2007 benefit (the Clover show) and it was great.

So who might the other artist be? Let's see some wild speculation, folks!

Agreed Woz, and the acoustics were very good too IMO. Looking forward to the set list to refresh my memory. I loved God's Comic and Jimmy Standing in the Rain.
