Re: That's How You Got Killed Before

Yeah, loved The Confederates performances of this and so many other rolling songs. Benmont Tench was a real star for me on this tour,he really made the band swing, absolutely brilliant, like Paul Bryan's bass playing in the Allen Toussaint concerts here in the U.K. Both are amazing talents who have ...

Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .

In the November 2020 Hi-Fi world there is an article about London pirate radio broadcasts from the late 70s and Thameside seems to be the broadcaster particularly mentioned in the article and contains the a paragraph describing how a presenter "was heard making unfairly-disparaging comments abo...

Re: Almost Blue

Always upset me a little, as my mum used to sing Mighty Like A Rose to Me as a child and she died 8 years before MLAR was released and it was 2 years after my son was born that the album came out. I couldn't bring myself to sing it to him ! :(

I too listened to the interview and it was great to hear how reverent and sincere jamie seemed to be regarding Elvis and his vast musical repertoire, knowledge and range! Elvis didn't make too many jokes as he often does in interviews but it sounded like a genuine fan interested in Elvis new album a...

Re: New album Hey Clockface released October 30, 2020

Never boring, Benny, always truly interesting. I loved the Jam, never really got Style Council (too set in the mould of all those 80s "pretty boys" bands) and have never really investigated the solo material other than the obvious ones. I think I saw him live in 1984 in Cornwall but doesn't...

Re: Why have I not been listening to Elvis?

Like you've all mentioned, I've been listening to a whole host of albums mostly from my teenage years, my guilty pleasure being Queen II -especially the white side ( and playing along!) up to Jacques Loussier and his Play Bach series of albums. My son gave me two Tame Impala albums and I've even man...

Couple of other less positive things I picked up on: - he ruled out releasing complete live shows, also saying he had no interest in Dicks Picks style releases - he hinted that he knows his intonation/tuning is ‘off’ but dismissed it as an issue, citing Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday There goes m...

The box is gorgeous. The expanded liner notes are great. It feels like they are in dialogue with both his previous liner notes and Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink, which he references a few times within. It feels like a real celebration of the record. I hope there is enough demand for a Get...

Re: "Secret Jewish history"?

About three or four years ago there was quite a lot of talk on this forum about Elvis agreeing to play in Israel and then backing out and we had one verbose pro-Israel poster called Rachel who became increasingly belligerent and accusative over a series of posts. It disturbs me that Elvis should be ...

My CD came today at last (whilst the vinyl is obviously absent) and I opened the card cover, pinched the sides to get out the pamphlet to have a read and the cardboard split - how cheap and nasty is that ! It means I'll have to go to the nearest HMV after lock down and shoplift an empty cover now, p...

Re: Spanish This Year’s Model - New release based on one of Elvis Costello and the Attractions most celebrated albums!!

Unless Elvis is singing in Spanish, I'm not interested. Otherwise just covers. not really, it´s EC&A with guest vocalists. But I get your point. Nothing new except inferior vocalists ? Why try Spanish singers with the same instrumentation.? I think I’ll quote John Peel on ELP - a waste of elect...
