Re: Fallon and Armisen Imitate EC

In the UK, Frank Skinner once "did" Elvis, on Celebrity Stars in their Eyes. Badly, as I recall.

Re: Elvis/'Spinning - Dublin, May 9 '12 - its on!

Yes, much improved though, better sight lines , semi-circular seat layout etc. It still has the same over-priced drink and tendency to attract punters there for the social occasion rather than the show. John I see on Ticketmaster that the configuration for next May's show is "intimate theatre&...

Re: Royalty Theatre, 23 November 1986

The next night,24th, was excellent. First time I'd experienced chatty Elvis, and the slide show and props (Japanese God Jesus Monsters? Dutch ornaments that playd "Tulips from Amsterdam"?). Good focus on KOA material, lots of explanations of the origins of the songs, a snatch of Wild Mount...

Royalty Theatre, 23 November 1986

25 years ago today. My first time travelling out of Northern Ireland to see an EC show, my mate and I got the season ticket for the first three nights. Absolutely blown away by the first night, basically a Blood and Chocolate set with some KOA and other goodies thrown in. Band in fine form, very int...

Re: Half empty venues vs. ticketprices

I don't think its the price. Belfast, the Hall was about a half to two-thirds full (its a 2,000 capacity, so I reckoned about 1,200). Lots of the empty seats were "prime" ones and I believe these had been given to sponsors of the Belfast Festival who simply didn't turn up. The price was £3...

Very strong, very enjoyable show tonight. I don't really do setlists, but he started off with Oliver's Army and Last Boat Leaving, finished with Peace Love and Understanding, Pump it up, and I Hope. In between (and in no particular order, just as I remember them): Poison Moon Radio sweetheart/Jacki...

Re: Elvis Queen's Festival Belfast 28 October 2011

No, can't, as am heading to London on a trip on Sunday AM. If you're going, enjoy the show! Very well structured tonight, great variety of guitars and piano, a lot of off-mic work, some jiggery-pokery with electonic effect pedal and for some bizarre reason a klaxon during National Ransom.
