Re: "I Don't Want Your Lyndon Johnson"?
'Finding it as a B-side' on some obscure blues single is a bit of a running gag for EC. He's done the same gag about 'Lucky Dog' and 'Tipsy Woman' at various gigs (while at other gigs conceding that they are Costello originals). Did he describe 'Tipsy Woman' as 'one I wrote with my brother' (widely ...

So...people who were in Iceland, what were the new songs like? I know that nobody can post recordings or reprint the lyrics or anything, but I think it's OK to ask what they were like?

Re: Ugly Things - Brinsley Schwarz
I like it better than anything, by far, on the Mighty Like a Rose album. How did this not make the cut? Because not his own song? MLAR would have been greatly improved with this. So Like Candy is the only redeemer of the whole album. Ugly Things coulda replaced some ugly things on the rest of it. O...

Taking out seven repeats of PLU, I make it 180 different songs so far? So with two nights to go, he's easily going to hit the 200, and then some.

That's my hunch too. If he's billing it as a 'love letter to Burt', you'd think he'd actually sing the songs himself. And No Coffee Table wrote:It's true he doesn't say who sings the "whole album of Bacharach/David songs," but I have to think it's EC.

I really hope this gets a physical release. Maybe Red Shoes would be added as a bonus track. I have every confidence that when this gets released as a deluxe box-set of 7" singles (with postcards of course), 'Red Shoes' will be the 'exclusive bonus track' on the B-side of the sixth single :D. ...

I do quite enjoy Wise Up Thought if I'm in the right mood, and I think the version of 'Tripwire' is preferable to the Wise Up Ghost version.verbal gymnastics wrote:I liked Wise Up Ghost but Wise Up Thought was awful in my view. I confess I'd be slightly disappointed if the only Elvis song mentioned is 'Pump It Up'. Particularly if all Bob's going to do is point out the obvious connection from 'Too Much Monkey Business' to 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' and then to 'Pump It Up'.

EC was reported to have mentioned finishing a new album with the Imposters at one of the recent UK dates. The studio has said that the band had book...
