Re: Elvis on ITV breakfast show Daybreak Friday

How can you get any higher than this: elvis_c.jpg IIRC Chiles and Bleakley also wore horn rimmed spectacles, not unlike cinema 3D glasses with the lenses removed, to make Elvis feel welcome. Note also how Elvis' tie, is colour matched to Chiles' shirt and the bow on Bleakley's dress. High production...

Re: UK tour 2010/11

One more factor to add into the equation is the possiblity of EC appearances on the Elton John tour. Elton is to tour next year to promote his album The Union, with Leon Russell. His appearance on the BBC Electric Proms tonight was part of that. In July this year it was reported that: "Sir Elto...

Just listened to the Janice Long programme on here http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00tw3cy/Janice_Long_28_09_2010 At 1:11:12 she plays I Lost You and goes on to say that Elvis will be "turning out on her show" soon. On this morning's show, at the very start she talks about spending ...

Nothing more specific than "lunchtime" which could be anywhere between noon and 3pm. Don't tell me you're thinking of travelling up to see if you can gatecrash the gig?

Competition: Tickets to UK Press Launch of National Ransom

There is a "competition" - more of a lottery really, to win a pair of tickets to the press launch of National Ransom at Ronnie Scott's Club in London on Thursday 28 October. It will be a lunchtime show, not clear whether Elvis is solo or not. Presumably with whoever supports him for his ot...

Thanks to John for arranging this, and for travelling furthest to be there. Although the Chelsea space is not the largest gallery, it was full of material for this exhibition. It runs for another week and I commend it to anyone who can get there. Paul Gorman is hoping to exhibit the material again n...

"This year's girl" would seem to fit with the origins of FB. "See her picture in a thousand places 'cause she's this year's girl. You think you all own little pieces of this year's girl." As to whether introducing EC to a new generation is a good thing, I am not so sure. It's nic...

EC plays live on the Simon Mayo Radio show Weds 27 October

Elvis will perform live on the Simon Mayo radio show on BBC Radio 2, between 17.05 and 19.00 BST on Wednesday 27 October. Elvis will be performing his cover of a great British-penned hit as part of the Great British Songbook Library and (presumably) also play at least one song from National Ransom. ...

Two O'Clock would be better for me. Twelve would be a problem. Liverpool Street is on the Central and Circle Lines so a lot of central London pubs would be convenient. Looking forward to it.

I like to think that this song is inspired by the Stockwell shooting of De Menezes and other things besides. EC is never one to write a simple song. I think there are other allusions and references in this song too, and the stuff about hoods, makes me think of Guantanamo Bay too. As with many other ...

Curiously the post on ElvisCostello.com referring to "My resistance is low" gives credence to the set list (above) that we dismissed as a copy of that for The Beacon. However, we also need to bear in mind that this quote is taken from the section of EC.com called "lies and inventions&...

27 March 1978, Malvern Winter Gardens.
