Re: What are you listening to right now?

http://andersonlibrary.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/elvis-costello-secret-profane-and-sugarcane.jpg First time I've listened to this in a while. IMO it is an album that suffers from the inclusion of pointless remakes and a couple of weak songs. It would have been a much stronger single album if it h...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Been listening to a free download of Josh Rouse's ' I will Live on Islands' from the upcoming album El Turista.

Really like it - very similar to early Paul Simon.

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

As skilful as Henry is (was?), I have always thought him a sulky slimeball brat. That is true. The fact that he played for the scumbag nomads doesn't help. But in all honesty, I was most upset about this incident because of my Irish heritage. I would have felt the same if it had been any of the fren...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Yeah. Henry never cheated and it's the refs fault. Pathetic. Of course the game shouldn't be replayed. That is a road we would be mad to go down as we would have fixture chaos - every team is loaded with cheats and the fact that none of the Irish players came out and had a go at Henry is pure...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

The game is in the gutter. The decision was shocking, but Henry proved that all this 'gentleman' bollocks is a sham. It was nearly as bad as his sulky tantrum after Arse's Champions League Final against Barca a few yearrs back.

Re: Prefab Sprout new album

What I love about Swoon is the quirky lyrics and even quirkier vocals. Cue Fanfare quickly had me hooked (as well as in hysterics). Paddy Mac was never pretentious (which may be the issue with the latest offering). When asked what the songs were about, he told the truty....just a load of nonsense re...

Re: Prefab Sprout new album

Actually (being the pedant I am) The Gunman was 2001...so it's even worse  During the last 8 years Paddy has been diagnosed with a progressive medical disorder that affects his retina and impairs his vision and hearing quite badly. Conditions hardly conducive to the writing and recording proces...

Re: Prefab Sprout new album

...and it's affectively only a demo. Personally, I agree that it is a patchy effort, but given that he has made Andromeda Heights, The Gunman and Megaheretz since (both which lack perfection, but still retain some Paddy Mac classics) i think it's a little unfair to say that he can't make great recor...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

It's all good. Chelsea and Liverpool both lose in the Prem, leaving us to cruise to the top, and Liverpool make it four in a row at home to Lyon. They couldn't write this stuff! Formidable goal machine Arse only manage a feeble draw against Dutch obscurity. CSKA ere we come! Rangers losing 1-4 at h...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Well, I'd argue that as so many managers have spent megabucks on Alan Smith, he very clearly is rated by some. Tom Huddlestone has been a great disappointment to me. He strikes the ball like an arrrow and his passsing range is sublime. Unfortunately, he has never married those skills to solid tackli...
