Re: May 27 '07 - 30th anniversery of first Costello show

Hmm... EC does not have the same clothes or glasses on in the ECIS photo as he does in the one tweeted by his publisher yesterday. (E.g., He's wearing dress trousers, not the blue jeans mentioned by Allan Jones.) So... ??

Re: UNFAITHFUL MUSIC & DISAPPEARING INK - Oct. 2015 - first review

The book seemed to have gotten a nice notice in Booklist, although it doesn't appear to be up on their site yet. Excerpt from the publishers website: “This is a big book, literally, by one of the best rockers in the business. Given the singular, and eclectic, nature of his career, it is no surprise ...

That's a pretty encouraging review. Kirkus is known for being so brutal, publishers don't even submit some books to them.

Re: Unfaithful Music & Soundtrack album, Oct 2015

Connor, you can't feel too bad -- he included your (obscure) favorite song. Meaning it's an important one for him, too. I think this qualifies as a weird compilation of previously released material, but not in a bad way. The "audio book sketches not included in the book" make it sound like...

Nope. That would be this: http://www.amazon.com/Unfaithful-Music- ... 161176470X

(There's also a more convenient and likely cheaper downloadable version noted on the publishers sites, but it's not on Amazon yet.)

I agree, Connor, and I suspect EC might have already gone a long way toward writing a second book while working on this one.

Maybe we'll get another "soundtrack" while he's at it. :)

Re: Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink - soundtrack album, Oct 2015

Thanks, Connor. I couldn't help wondering, especially since that stated page count from the publisher literally doubled overnight. Admittedly, I think the originally page count was notional, since I noticed many "upcoming" books have that exact page count (352 pages). I haven't heard anyth...

Re: Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink - soundtrack album, Oct 2015

I'm actually starting to coming around to seeing it cwr's way, especially wrt "barely released", rather than truly unreleased, material. I think it's the oddly off-handed way this is being handled -- five weeks from release and it still hasn't been announced; the amazon.com listing is prob...

cwr, let me be the first to say it: You're getting your hopes way too high for this; it's just going to be a weird compilation of previously released stuff to help more casual fans get their bearings. :) Maybe we'll get a excerpt of one of the newly reclaimed Rusty demos just for laughs, but I sure ...

So far, all of these "in conversation with" book-tour shows in the US are including the option to buy a pre-signed book at a very reasonable price, but no "live" book signing. He is doing a couple of straight book-signings -- no talk or presentation -- but only in New York City. ...

That's probably because nobody takes Rolling Stone very seriously anymore. Sure, I was kind of tickled to see our man ranked fairly high, but I don't see this as much more than yet another internet listicle.

How about Billy Joel being on there at all? Might as well include Barry Manilow -- at least he wrote some good jingles.

Azmuda, I was up close and I didn't notice EC looking surprised, but I didn't see the horn section come on stage, either. They were just there, blasting away, all the sudden. Very cool. I always love EC's music arranged for/with horns. I think EC might have pre-thanked them during "Chelsea"...

Re: west palm beach August 12th

This set list is accurate. The horn section was 3 pieces. I also assume they were from Steely Dan. (I didn't stay for the Dan show.) They appeared halfway through PLU. I thought EC would feel constrained by one-hour opening-act slot, but it seemed to me he was more like, "You know, I could get ...

Will there be a kindle version?

Bruce says:
