Re: New song "No Flag" released June 5, 2020
That is a timely and devastating song. ‘Not exactly chill out music is it!’ my partner commented this morning. I was thinking the same as others here about its cousins - 20% Amnesia, Walk Us Uptown and a shade of Idiophone too. It adds to the list of EC garden shed knock ups that goes all the way ba...

Re: Little Richard RIP
My oldest son was subjected to quite a number of EC shows growing up, a case in point being that he fell asleep at Meltdown in the second row (goodness knows how I lucked out and got those seats) the night Deep Dead Blue was recorded. The excitement of C&N plus the Fairfield Four had been quite ...

Re: Happier Musical Hour Live Stream concert, April 29, 2020
Great stream and lovely to see Rusty reunited at last. Allan seems a very fine and talented chap - and going back even further than Nick Lowe does in EC’s life there’s no airs and graces present. One lockdown bonus - and it’s not a small one to a fan like me - is to have Elvis around so much at the ...

There was an interview in Q, I think around the release of MLAR, that began 'The hind leg replacement department of the local donkey hospital has been put on standby...'!

Re: EC to appear on Artists4NHS interview and live performance series, March 27, 2020
Having been in slight disappointment that Elvis didn’t play for us much in the webcast, I purchased Detour last night from the Tax Dodger’s Prime Video. For some reason I’d steered clear of it until now, a combination of wanting to keep my gig memories pure, a feeling that Elvis doesn’t always come ...

For me it has to be Uncomplicated I Hope You’re Happy Now Tokyo Storm Warning but I guess that’s also just a reflection of the point at which I really began to get EC. Are you voting these as the best 3 or the worst 3  Well it's more or less where I really came in, that and KOA were a bit of 1...

Re: EC to appear on Artists4NHS interview and live performance series, March 27, 2020
Always lovely to see our man chatting away about music - and the current situation. If us here will have known a fair few of the stories a lot of others won't. Personally I could have done with more guitar and singing but hey. The main thing I felt is sorry for him, being isolated from the family fo...

Re: EC to appear on Artists4NHS interview and live performance series, March 27, 2020
What a good cause right now. I’ll be watching and no doubt parting with a bit of cash for the fundraising. Greatly looking forward to what EC might pull out of the bag. His words of care for the NHS and for all of us at the final Hammersmith gig and in his statement were deeply touching. A friend th...

Re: Elvis & The Imposters play Eventim Apollo, London, March 13, 2020
I’d love to see a gig in that venue and when this is all over perhaps I shall. Meantime, being a Londoner born and bred, my favourite venue to see EC especially but also other acts is the Shepherds Bush Empire, a short standing stalls means the balconies are near enough the stage to see the whites o...

Re: "Plotting our return, early in the Leap Year" (2020 UK tour)
I agree that EC’s song interpolations are critical matters for board members far and wide, myself included. Slow Down in Pump It Up at the Attractions run of Shepherd’s Bush Empire shows was an elevating delight. As were The Monkees breaking into God’s Comic at the Palladium way back (well I saw her...

Hammersmith, Row J, best I could find on presale at about twenty past ten this morning. Far too fecking expense but hey ho, no one buys music anymore.
Hope EC drinks plenty of Red Zinger tea between now and then - for his throat's sake!

Re: Elvis's most 'Marmite' project
For my part, I love the Juliet Letters. However For The Stars graced my CD player only a few times, resoundingly a miss rather than a hit. When Elvis mentions an album in his stage patter we usually applaud and appreciate, understandably and deservedly. When he namechecked For The Stars at a Costell...

Re: Daniel Rowland leaves The Brodsky Quartet
Sad to see him go. Saw the Brodsky's just a few months ago and Daniel did all the talking, taking a leaf from EC's book of compering and humour. It was at Kings Place, themed on music from conflict and included some bravura wine glass playing from the quartet among other non stringed things. They're...

Apologies if this has been posted before. There only seem to be 2 versions of this on youtube, both uploaded in the last few weeks, so it may be new to some fellow forum-ers: Footage of a short set from the Attractions, Blood & Chocolate era live at Self Aid in Dublin may '86, kicking off with L...

Re: Elvis's funniest line or song
Yes the ABC News is always a highlight - what a deliciously cruel, hilarious put down. We can only hope whoever inspired it, deserved it. Another one that cracks me up every time is the unsavoury character quoted in Fill In The Blanks: Adjani, Dalle and Fanny Ardant He says “all those French birds g...

John Wilson is indeed the son of Bob Wilson. I used to see John a bit as our kids went to the same nursery quite a few years back now.
Good to hear the reports and the EC seems to be thriving (not to mention conversation hogging) again.

Wow, amazing though frustratingly shot footage. Declan's dungarees, seen in photos only before, should surely make a comeback.
Thanks for posting John. When was this discovered?

I remember it coming up a fair bit on the Attractions reunion tours - along with a joke about the career ending Curse of Costello (the original cover being pretty much Dave Edmunds sole hit) followed by a sheepish 'no that's not true'!

Re: David Hepworth's awful Costello faux pas
Thanks for alerting us to this MOOT. A good listen, even if some stories are getting a touch over familiar in these last few golden weeks. EC seemed very relaxed in Hepworth / Ellen company and made good banter.
