Re: “Cruel To Be Kind”: book about Nick Lowe
I saw Nick Lowe at Milton Keynes two weeks ago. Great show in a smallish venue, around 500 there? I lingered around afterwards and managed to have a chat with Nick. Lovely bloke, very chatty and happy to sign my American Squirm single and Live Stiffs album, both of which had been signed previously b...

Re: Elvis Costello OBE
I don't think an OBE has the same archaic meaning it used to have. The British Empire doesn't exist anymore, it doesn't mean bowing and scraping to the monarchy and doesn't mean becoming part of the establishment. Many recipients are now people who stand up for causes and rights of others. For examp...

Re: Elvis congratulates Nick Lowe
I went to see Nick Lowe’s Quality Rock & Roll Revue starring Los Straitjackets in Milton Keynes last night Fabulous gig and I managed to have a brief chat with him afterwards. He signed the set list I managed to nab and my copy of American Squirm and Live Stiffs Live which had been signed by Elv...

Re: EC/Imposters and Blondie co-headline 13-date US tour, July-August 2019
I hope this tour doesn't come to the UK as I'd think Blondie would get most of the attention and probably headline. I saw Blondie and the Pretenders co-headline a tour in Australia several years ago Frankly the Pretenders blew them away each night. If Elvis did have to do a co-headline tour with an...

I hope this tour doesn't come to the UK as I'd think Blondie would get most of the attention and probably headline. Re: Relatively Insignificant EC Stuff. . .
They look great. I hope you don’t get any letters from Elvis’ people for any potential copyright breaches though. I don't think Elvis' people were directly involved in this. It's more 'fan art' I would say so should be in the public domain. I've ordered one of the prints from the artist so he is ge...

There was no support.
No football was shown.

Just out of curiosity, what time did it start and finish? Was there a support? I assume they didn't show the football first on the second night? Another thing was the merchandise seemed very well priced. Tour tee shirt €20, signed tour poster €10 and mug €5. Was it a clear out sale? What were the pr...

A beautiful setting but slightly surreal build up to the show No one expected Japan to take the lead never mind go two up. I think I was the only one cheering Japan’s goals but I was also thinking Elvis would have to play the gig of his like to lift the crowd Belgium duly fought back and scored a la...

I'll be back home for the England v Colombia game. I don't think the Belgians will be too bothered about showing that before Elvis takes the stage on the Tuesday night

Ticket purchased for the 2nd
Looks a nice venue, if it doesn’t rain, and good value too. Add in travel and hotel costs then a bit more expensive but we’ll make it a mini road trip

Despite living only an hour away this is no good to me as I’m working away and not due back in the UK until the following week.
That is Oxford and Manchester ruled out for me so Antwerp it is. Tickets purchased and they are relatively cheap at only €48
At least I’ll get one Elvis fix this year

Re: Your first meeting with Elvis
I can't resist adding to this. My first time seeing Elvis was on the Stiff Tour at Leicester University in 1978. We didn't have tickets as it sold out quickly but we hatched the great idea of going to the venue early and going to the students bar and hanging out long enough to be already inside the ...
