Re: Radio Radio on SNL: awesome or overrated?

Hi I thought that the vocals were sung live over a recorded backing track. One that sticks out for me was when John Peel falultlessly "played" the mandolin during Rod Stewart's performance of Maggie May. Admittedly this was a few years before Radio Radio, but I don't think much changed in ...

Re: They call her Natasha

Hi I confess I went to Elsie's 2001 show in Liverpool ( alongside about 6 other people) and had a great time. I'm sure this event will be worth the modest entrance fee for the good people of Lichfield . ( and by the way, If Mark P. and Mike B. are part of this Board, thanks again for Beyond Belief w...

Meanwhile in annother country... When the song became a hit in the UK, he was invited to perform it on Top of the Pops ( for younger readers this was really the only hit music show on our TV at the time). Pretty sure some mischievous editor cut to the face of the Radio One DJ Tony Blackburn at the p...

Hi Sulky My real name is Colin Wilkinson - did we trade about 10 years ago ? If so it's a big hello! I'm also on a mission to convert all my cassettes onto CD and I'm struggling to get past first base so I'm full of admiration for you. I'm really intested in replicating the shows I've been to, which...

Hi We drove past the Picket this afternoon and it's now got a bloody big, fantastic, mural running the length of the outside wall. Painted in tribute to the Liverpool / Ireland connection via the City of Culture celebrations. Elvis is depicted lifesize from the My Aim is True era ( did the artists p...

Hi I love this song too. I think this is a referrence to the method of learning foreign languages ( in this instance the pavement / sidewalk situation) which was popular in the UK during the 60's eg " Spanish / French / Italian etc Without Tears" think it involved listening to cassette tap...

Hi Pianoguy I love this song too. Respect to John who was on the nail . From the stage of the Royal Court Theatre on 12th December 1994, Elvis filled in the blanks mid song : “This song is about a little walk I took along the golden shore of New Brighton… [applause greeting name of the decaying reso...

John Went to this show yesterday on opening night - fantastic! Mega nostalgia trip for those of us lucky (old) enough to have been to Erics when it was up and running.Recommended for anyone who has any affinity with the music of the day. Sadly there were notices on every seat requesting that we didn...

Obviously too late for the two cultural delights i mentioned, but Elvis will be playing here again next June / July to co-incide with his Ma's 82nd birthday on his single city tour of England.

Take care

Hi

I was wondering if you got a copy of the show via your post?

Sorry I can't offer you a copy, but I'd sure like to trade one if you did get lucky.

Have you got the audio of the show?

Best wishes

Great show from where I sat too - d / 23 immediately in front of that nice Mr Foyle ( good to meet you John ). As a Philistine I was fearful of the classical - purist elements before the show. However i was delighted to be proven wrong. Perhaps the first "conventional" songs with the orch ...
