Re: Re-examination of "Punch the Clock"

BA says thank God i got to hear it in a one hour soundcheck at the pier in nyc where i also got to see E play bass and Bruce the guitar. What a sight that must have been, BA. Did Bruce look sneeringly over at EC ? The only soundcheck I ever saw was EC solo in Bristol in November 1984 when he got out...

Re: Rolling Stone on Trust

cwr writes Some have pointed out that it contains a handful of weaker tracks, and I'd concede that this is true. But I'd also argue that this is the first record where Costello took real RISKS and that, in a weird way, the album is greater than the sum of its parts. Some of the slighter tracks might...

Re: Armed Forces 20th Jan 1979

Amazing, Otis -I'm a bit older than you but remember writing a song ( in the gloriously downbeat key of B minor) which I though would suit Elvis in one of my holidays home from Uni. the first few lines where "Stand in the corner with your head in your hand, You won't do what you're told, You ne...

Re: 1979 , Get Happy sleevenote/'highwire Elvis'

I had imagined that if the promo 45s were for genuine promotional activity rather than a gimmick to get fans to shell out large amounts of money for them(like I did) then they seem to indicate to the unwary radio jock or whoever they had been sent to, that the first track is Love For Tender. Besides...

Re: cover to cover

Back in the late 90s up to about 2002, I decided to reduce the large number of live cassettes I had to a more manageable quantity of minidiscs and re-recorded all the Elvis shows I had - then about 800 I guess and listened to the and compared setlists with the ECIS lists and Beyond Belief. A labour ...

Re: EC Ticket stubs collectors....

$9 just to have a look - seems a bit of a rip-off especially as you can't make copies.I suggest it may be more worthwhile for people to send scans of their tickets to the wiki where any fan can see them !

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Perfect summation WSS - it's anybody's at the moment. It's interesting to see that when Chelsea had bucketloads of money thrown at them they eventually got JM as manager and suddenly looked unstoppable. Wonder how long it will take the Eastlands crew to realise that Mancini s no Mourinho (can't spel...
