Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.
Got my CD/DVD copy yesterday, blasting the CD now. For those of us who care, I think I've determined which songs come from which show. I Hope You're Happy Now, Heart Of The City, Mystery Dance, Radio Radio, God Give Me Strength, Watching The Detectives, Tear Off Your Own Head, Out Of Time and Stella...

Re: Fallon and Armisten Imitate EC
I didn't think either of them sounded like EC. (And I think my Morrissey is better, personally.)
To clean the palette, here's one of the funnier musical Armisen skits, and one of the best things Elton John's ever done.

I don't have kids. I don't know how I feel about this. I think if I did have kids they'd probably be frightened by what they saw.

Apparently this show almost didn't happen in time: http://www.elviscostello.com/yellow-press/rants#/news/the-romance-of-travel/233 10.10.11 The Romance of Travel It says much about how far we’ve traveled from those heady days of flying on Pan-Am, Braniff and Allegeny Airlines, that a curling iron or...

How is it that I didn't realize you were a Red Sox fan until now? Or did I know at one time but forgot? It's possible. I should think I'd be better at recognizing my brothers. Anyway, yeah. Terry Francona was there for eight amazing seasons and two World Series championships. I can't imagine who the...

Re: 'The Return Of The Spectacular Spinning Songbook', Nov.
What kills me (outside of this month's Red Sox collapse, but nobody cares) is that Elvis has been complaining about his current record label -- and there have been a few -- for over 25 years, and yet he keeps giving himself up to be marketed by whichever one is offering to sponsor him that week. I s...

He played it at Lake Compounce in CT in '89 as well. I seem to recall that he played the final triangle note himself.

Good point, cwr (as usual). When the Rhino rehaul started EC was married to one wife, and when it ended he had another. I hate to think that publishing fees have kept these held up, but I wouldn't be surprised if his current situation has put them on the back burner.

I'm somewhere in the third row, stage left. I was hoping to stumble across this again. (The other highlight of the evening -- seeing Biff Henderson wandering around the stage before the show.)

Re: Your favorite MLAR (including bonus disc) track and why
The weird thing for me is that "Just Another Mystery" is a perfect MLAR track, and yet I can't honestly say that it has a place in the sequencing of the album. (Unlike, say, "Almost Ideal Eyes", inexplicably left off of ATUB, which would fit in almost anywhere on that record.) I...
