Re: Juliet Letters / All This Useless Beauty on Vinyl releas

Now that I have a few of these in the Music On Vinyl series (not just E.C.), I must say that while the vinyl quality seems to be fine, the artwork is usually a bit disappointing. It always looks a bit 'blown up': ever so slightly blurred. Particularly the fonts lose their sharpness. Also, the colour...

Re: New Vinyl Remasters of MAIT, TYM and AF

Yes, I was in the final stages of purchasing these (about £50.00 for the three of them, which is a 'bargain'), when they waked on £25.00 in shipping costs! That's very unusual for them - I usually have free shipping from them, even to the UK ... I sent them an email to ask them what this was all abo...

I gave my copy from '93 a spin this evening - https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-9/10481409_10152199573142957_1455617061364677716_n.jpg The surface noise on this is atrocious. Re: Juliet Letters on Vinyl release

CWR, is the original LP version also a single disc? It's over an hour long, which is a bit much for vinyl I think ... 'Music On Vinyl' seems to be going through these WB era albums at a slow but steady rate. No guarantees of course, but I hope they get to Kojak Variety in due course ... 'Painted Fro...

Re: T-Bone / Dylan project: Lost On The River

However great the end result may sound, it's another excuse for Costello not to write an album. One of the greatest lyricists in the world, and first he rehashes his own old lyrics, and now he's going to play with somebody else's rejects. Am I the only one thinking that we get very watered down vers...

Re: Letter from Attorney and Deletion of Posts

Prince ('s lawyers) sued 11 fan-sites around the world for 1 million dollar each because they provided bootleg material. They all closed at the drop of a hat. A few days ago he stopped the cases (and dropped charges), but it rattled the chains quite a bit. Very quiet now around Prince sites ... Has...

Well, I have since returned to albums like Blood And Chocolate, Spike, Get Happy, and enjoyed them so much more! When the albums were filled to the brim with melody, clever arrangements etc. etc. Back in the day when Elvis Costello was still striving to make superior pop music. This album is merely ...

I can't get excited about this.

Even the actual album doesn't get played by me anymore. Struggled through about 5 or 6 spins. Behind the sparkling production lies some of the laziest songwriting in Costello's career.

Got the Spike LP yesterday - nice to heavy the glossy cover and the semi-heavy-weight vinyl (which pays excellently). My only gripe is that the printing of the cover looks a bit fuzzy, especially on the lettering. Looks like a lower resolution blown up ...

Maybe it *still* has to grow on me, but 'River In Reverse' is low in my rankings of EC albums. It's one of those where he seems to have lost his identity. It could have been anyone singing an playing those songs. It's sounding like a well-crafted studio-musicians album to me. Elvis Costello's 'and t...

Re: New album for 2013: "Wise Up Ghost" (with The Roots!)

About 5 years ago I recorded a funky backing track. It was so good it needed a song. Unfortunately I wasn't very inspired that day to write any meaningful words. I was too much in a hurry too, so I grabbed the lyricss of a song that just happened to be lying there. And improvised half rapped, half s...
