Sorry mate. Quite right. That twat Anton Ferdinand stuck his boot out just as I posted. He has to be the new Titus Bramble. Man Utd were really shit though. Why couldn't they play that crap at WHL a couple of weeks back. It's a funny ole game Saint.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

For me, Cole's Corner is one of those rare beasts that can be called 'classic'. TG is a fine album but isn't in that class. No way is that an insult to Richard Hawley.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Yes, I'm enjoyingg the Hawley album as well, although it is likely to be a bit of a grower as it is less immediate than Coles Corner in particular.
I agree that it seems very dark - a late night kind of album.

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Look, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but what the hell was Real's penalty about tonight. A fantastic tackle by Diawarra resulting in a penalty and a sending off. I just think UEFA is totally bent.

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

I just thought that Utd were so creative last week and we never really got a look in. The defensive problems are definitely there, but that has happened before and Fergie seems to iron those out very quickly. Chelsea are excellent at the back but I just think Utd will get stronger. The match between...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

Spurs were nowhere against Chelsea, who Ancelloti has turned into a super fit and efficient winning team, able to brush off the likes of Spurs with minimal effort, so we'll have to settle for second for now. I don't know what game you were watching Otis! :? Clear penalty denied at 1-0. The whole co...

Re: Recent CD Purchases

Yes. He did, but in the excellent 'Some People are Crazy' biograpghy, it suggests he was just trying to take on a persona, particularly Londoner Danny Thompson. He'd wear similar clothes and adopt the same mannerisms as him. Elvis used to do this a lot...adopting thick scouse in Liverpool etc Dylan ...

Re: Recent CD Purchases

Yep - seen that one. I think he had a bit of a warped sense of humour. Switching accents like underwear. There's another clip from the same era of him accepting an award in totally convincing cockney. Bugger my list. Lloyd is indeed missing along with several other heroes and I think I need to...

Re: Recent CD Purchases

Wow, you're hooked! Such a shame you didn't make it to the CornEx for his last tour. I checked out that 90s rendition of S the R, but moved to the 70s one for the higher sweeter voice, but maybe the pissed up, gruffer version there is more in tune with the amazing lyrics. Lovely arrangement. Totall...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

As I recall, it wasn't so much that the McQueen Estate objected, it was just that the process of getting agreement was so complex that they thought 'bugger it' and went for a different title.

Yeah...just magnificent. I also love this richer, accompanied version. He's clearly had a few sherberts, but it just enhances the performance imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1XTOAcnWJY Grace and Danger was my second John Martyn album (after Solid Air) and it is a beautiful record. Don't know Horace Silver but will definitely follow it up. The great thing about this website is how it introduces you to stuff you would normally never buy....but that's one for another thread! Re: Recent CD Purchases

Been on a real CD drive recently. CDs have really come down in price in recent years in the UK. Makes them a little irresistable. Went on Amazon to buy a new electic kettle and came away with: John Martyn - Inside Out, Stormbringer, The Tumbler, London Coversation and Bless the Weather. Prefab Sprou...

Agree with Thompson that 'Earth: the Story So Far' is the highlight? It's on Spotify for those in Europe who want to check it out. For any Sprout enthusiasts who haven't yet got the reissued Steve McQueen with bonus acoustic versions recorded recently, do so! Frequently outstanding, a really great ...

Re: Wake up you footy fans!!!

   So so true. Some of the Spurs fans who come on the radio phone-ins just leave me embarrrassed. I had a mate of mine going on about he still isn't sure that Harry is the man for the job. What do these people want? Could anyone have done more than he has since last autum? Mind you, t...
