Elvis on BBC Radio Scotland, October 31, 2020

Post by Man out of Time »

One that nearly slipped by - on October 31, Elvis was on the line from Vancouver, on BBC Radio Scotland, with Billy Sloan to talk about the release of Hey Clockface.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000p08c - available for 21 days only.

"Billy's guest is singer songwriter Elvis Costello who’s talking about his new album “Hey Clockface” and the challenge of finishing it during the pandemic. Elvis also explains his dilemma of being offered an O.B.E. and how he turned to his elderly mum for advice, and what it felt to be sitting opposite Paul McCartney writing songs."

Elvis turns up in the second hour of the show, starting at 1:05:20.

Songs played (from record) are: Less Than Zero / No Flag / They're Not Laughing At Me Now / Newspaper Pane / Veronica / I Still Have That Other Girl + Macca's That Day Is Done .

Enjoy..

This show (including the interview with Billy Sloan) has been archived here: Archive.org.

The page also includes a transcript of sorts.

Elvis talks about recording "Hey Clockface" in Helsinki and Paris and about his UK tour that finished (prematurely) in Hammersmith in March 2020.
He also talks about recording MAIT and about the Beatles.
