How Deep Is The Red?

Post by Neil. »

Just to say I've always loved this song from an album that seems to have a mixed reception from fans.

But surely no-one's gonna quibble with this fantastic song?!

The album predates my membership here, but was its reception really mixed among fans?
I seem to recall that is was selling quite well - and it remains one of my favorite EC albums at least.
As is the case with most EC albums it grows on you if you let it - and this one is particularly rewarding to revisit.
My favorite is She Was No Good, but I love the album as a whole.

Prior to its release I was looking forward to Secret, Profane and Sugarcane. EC doing bluegrass sounded like a good idea and the concert excerpts with the Sugarcanes sounded fun. However, the album leaves me cold emotionally and I hardly ever play it. I’m not sure what it is but it never hit home for me. So I think there are a lot of different opinions on it, and that’s fine - each to their own.
Can't you see I'm trying to change this water to wine
