Elvis Costello and Mavis Nicholson

EC's social media had a clip of his 1989 interview with Nicholson, calling it his favorite interview, so I thought I'd check it out, then share it here:

I can see why it would be favorite - I kind of wish more interviews with recording artists were this intelligent and generous. He also clears up why he stopped doing interviews in his early years - makes perfect sense, though it's interesting how it may have helped his "mystique" at the time going by remembrances of American rock critics years later.
