Ahead of tonight's show, Elvis, Charley and Pete with Ian Prowse and his partner, were all at Anfield in Liverpool to see the start of the Rolling Stones' 60 European Tour. Here are Elvis and Keith.

A friend who was there said the sound was appalling with people walking out.

Massively exaggerated - see the other thread about Liverpool. There was a minor issue with the sound that was easily sorted out about half-an-hour in. A few drunk idiots (some of whom hadn't even paid for their tickets) decided to 'storm out', partly in disgust that he wasn't 'playing the hits'. Those people apparently left before he played 'Alison', 'Watching the Detectives', 'Shipbuilding', 'Pump It Up', 'Peace Love and Understanding', 'Good Year for the Roses', 'I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down' and '(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea'.

And a few stayed to shout out and heckle. Fine. The problem was totally with the audience. Elvis played a solid 2-and-a-half hour show with a perfect mix of 'hits' and 'interesting nuggets for the fans'. By the end there were more people dancing down the front than there were at Newcastle, and Elvis went on until 11:20 because he and the band were clearly having a great time.

But people enjoy having a rant on Twitter

:(

Well, Elvis's statement on Facebook doesn't quite tally with your experience*. However, I'm glad you enjoyed the gig, though hope tonight in Manchester is better :D

My friend was upstairs. He thought the sound was spot on for Ian Prowse and was very surprised when it all went badly for Elvis. He goes to more gigs than anyone else I know (he's off to something else in Liverpool tonight otherwise he might have popped down the East Lancs to be at the Opera House). This was his twentysomethingh EC gig. I'd say he would know if the sound was poor, and would notice people leaving all around him! He's really disappointed about the show, even despite things improving with the sound last night, but hasn't ranted about it on twitter.

Was he actually there? Line ups of both Imposters and Ian Prowe's band are wrong!
