Emmylou and Elvis tour?

Post by Emotional Toothpaste »

So I get this e-mail from Lost Highway records:

Emmylou and Elvis Tour:

7/17/05 Atlanta, GA Chastain Park Amphitheatre
7/19/05 New York Central Park Summerstage
7/20/05 Philadelphia, PA Tower Theatre
7/22/05 Wallingford, CT Oakdale Theatre
7/23/05 Boston, MA Bank of America Pavilion
7/24/05 Pittsburgh, PA Chevrolet Amphitheatre
7/26/05 Rochester Hills, MI Meadowbrook
7/27/05 Highland Park, IL Ravinia Festival
7/29/05 Dayton, OH Fraze Pavilion
7/30/05 Columbus, OH Promowest Pavilion
7/31/05 Vienna, VA Wolf Trap Filene Center

I wonder if we get Emmylou for the make-up game (sore throat cancellation from May 4) in St. Louis on August 2nd?? Anyone know if we do?

The shows with Emmylou will also feature an augmented version of the Imposters, adding lead guitarist Larry Campbell, who has toured with Bob Dylan since 1999. These will be very special shows for us lucky east-coasters. Mrs. migdd and I will be attending the show at Chastain Park (yawn on the lawn!) in Atlanta. I believe fellow poster, Miss MacBeth, is planning to attend as well. I'm sure one or both of us will post a full detail of the show.

Wow, Ive seen him backing Dylan and he is a really great guitarist.

I don't know if any of the board members reside near Dayton OH, but I spent the first 43 of my 48 years there. Smack dab in the middle of JesusLand, it is a city divided politically, racially, and economically.
However, the Fraze Pavillion is a great venue for a show. No such thing as a bad seat, and the majority is gradually graded green hillside where you can spread out and have a good time.

It might be worth the drive. I-75 and I-70 intersect just a few miles north of Dayton (fraze is in suburb called Kettering) so it is easy to get to.

Unless you live in wacky Southern California, in which case there is no place easy to get to save for Las Vegas, which has a slightly different ambience then does Dayton Oh, the birthplace of aviation, and home of the zip-top can.

Mr. and Mrs. migdd and I will have full reports on the Atlanta show, and hopefully some good action shots. I'm so excited about having Mr. Campbell on the bill as well as Emmylou. We're so fortunate. It's so worth the six hour drive.

This article says something more about their concerts together:

Emmylou's summer projects include an album of duets with Dire Straits guitarist Mark Knopfler, songwriting sessions with Canadian folk artists Kate and Anna McGarrigle and a co-headlining tour with British rocker Elvis Costello - on which they'll harmonize on classic country tunes between solo sets.
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

I remain very angry.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.
