Pete was definitely wearing a fake beard and a shit-eating grin at the end of the performance. :D

Davey's looking good up front!

And Pete, who's a cross between Abe & Tomas who I play bass with on occasion:

July 13th

THE OSWALT-COSTELLO CURSE

Brian Posehn was on Conan O’Brien Tuesday night promoting his new album, Come In From the Rain: Mellow, Chamomile Musings from Brian Posehn.

The musical guest was Elvis Costello.

I was pissed. Brian doesn’t give a shit about Elvis Costello. He doesn’t hate him, but he’s not into Elvis’ music the way I am, and have been since I was 17. And he got to sit eight feet away from the man, listening to a song, and probably shook hands with him afterwards.

See that second picture? That’s Conan holding up Elvis’ new album (the one with Allen Toussaint) before the camera cuts to Elvis Costello, standing eight feet away from metal geek Brian Posehn.

This is the second time this has happened, but at least it’s not the worst. That would have to be this delightful story:

Above the chair where I write (The Failure Throne) I have a framed copy of the This Year’s Model LP, signed to me by Elvis Costello. He even drew a cool little self-portrait. Looks pretty personal, huh? Like maybe I got to meet him?

Nope. My brother was working at The Tonight Show back when Elvis Costello and The Attractions were touring too support their Brutal Youth album.

He helped with the guests, and because Elvis was appearing on a Monday, most of the staff was running around, dealing with the week’s tasks.

So my brother was alone in the Tonight Show studio when The Attractions showed up early. Matt told them that Elvis hadn’t arrived yet. They told him they were going next door to Dalt’s Grille.

Some more time goes by, and then Elvis shows up. My brother introduces himself, and Elvis asks where The Attractions are.

“Well, they went next door to Dalt’s Grille,â€

An unappreciative not-knowing-how-lucky he was one!

So what effect do you reckon the heartfelt letter will have?
