Early Costello live always beats an opera singer singing pop songs.

Anne Sofie has even less chance than Bill Frisell of making it to the next round.

"Broken Bicycles" is a great song, but the Tom Waits original from 1982 is 10000x better than von Otter's reading.

Like Jackson D., I too love FTS (though I care not for the Frisell stuff).

The El Mocambo set, for whatever reason, never did that much for me.

I can't vote here - or show my face again  as I've not heard El Mocambo...yet.

I can say that FTS was the first experience that I had with an EC disc that really just didn't do anything for me. And, I do like opera - she's just a bit shrill or something.

This isn't even a contest. The El Macambo set is blistering energy. It's a force to be reckoned with. For the Stars is, at best, an interesting experiment that doesn't always work well, and at worst, a terrible distraction in an otherwise stellar career.

El Macambo.

El M. I keep trying to watch the elvis/anne sofie thing on trio, but it's just toooooo excruciating.
Like me, the "g" is silent.
