Elvis blurbs for Joe Henry

Post by HungupStrungup »

Can "blurb" actually be used as a verb? I guess in a world where people "commentate," just about anything goes.

My copy of Joe Henry's Tiny Voices, released the same day as North, has this quote on a sticker on the front:
"Joe Henry's Tiny Voices is a record in which a sharp view of the world and confidential experience collide in a wonderful musical and sonic fabric that is entirely his own." - Elvis Costello
"But it's a dangerous game that comedy plays
Sometimes it tells you the truth
Sometimes it delays it"

"Tiny Voices" is an astonishing record. JH keeps topping himself - the sound is alternately dense and delicate, while lyrically he is becoming more insular. Sonically, he is closer to Waits and Dylan than Elvis, but Elvis fans would do well to check him out.

I loved Scar, and look forward to hearing Tiny Voices.
