Elvis on BBC Radio , Mon. Sept.29

Post by johnfoyle »

see
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/allinson/

Elvis` official site list him as being on
this show tomorrow ,Mon. Sept 29 , airing at 10.30
onwards in the evening. I can`t imagine that it`ll be
any different to the other recent promo. appearances.
However - you never know - this might just be the time
that Elvis starts roaring and shouting or something
like that.

A very polite and attentive Elvis, who showed no signs (to this listener at least) that he was tired of giving the same responses about the meaning/influences/arrangements/direction of North.

A couple of quotes (perhaps LaughingCrow could do the Full Monty?):

'Rock n Roll combos are a renewable source, as are love songs'

'I don't care about posterity'

'If you're coming to hear oliver's Army you'd better stay at home with a KTEL Hits of the 70s compilation'

What's with Elvis saying that about "Oliver's Army" and "Veronica", and still playing them from time to time?

And he still plays "Pump It Up", which is even more of a pop hit in many ways.

I think Oliver's Army is a great pop song. I wish he would treat it with more respect. It has probably made him a few quid over the years!
I've only heard him do it live once in the last 15 years and it was cool.

If there is one song that he could drop for a while, its Pump it Up (or Accidents or Watching the Detectives). I've heard it sooo many times live that it has become a bit of a bore.

The Oliver's Army comment was in response to a question about the North tour.

So don't worry, I bet he'll be playing it again with the Imposters.

This was one of the more thoughtful interviews that Elvis has given lately. I have it on tape and hope to post a transcript later in the week when I get time.
