Elvis on Radio Two

Post by lenhodge »

I noticed nobody has mentioned that he was on the Dermot O'Leary show on Saturday being interviewed by Zoe Ball, its worth hearing ,so I thought I'd better mention it before it gets taken down.

Thanks so much for this. Really important, i think. "Beyond Belief"--something about this solo performance (starts around 38 minutes), even the shift of the chords and tempos used in the original, the guitar playing etc., ties this song to National Ransom and confirms what some folks have mentioned elsewhere on the board, that something in this new stuff is transforming and culminating something or other about his career. Wow.!!!

This is a joy, thanks a bunch for this link.

He's on top form and Zoe makes a surprisingly empathetic interviewer.

Is there any possiblity that Beyond Belief could be "Flaced"?

Aw, nice interview. Always good when Elvis is interviewed by someone who clearly likes his work.

Jeremy, "that's the closest I've ever come to enjoying Beyond Belief"?!

Wow, you've really put the cat among the pigeons with that one! I love BB! Swirling, sinister/beautiful dizzying soundscape with a torrent of kaleidoscopic, fragmented imagery and phrasemaking, all adding up to a puzzling but stunning piece of music. It's completely unclassifiable! What do you dislike about it?

Add to that the famous story about Pete playing out of skin and "out of it" at the same time - fantastic track !

The 80ness. It's cold, the production is too self-consciously cool and there's too many words per line for it to scan properly. I find myself indifferent to it, as I do with most of IMPERIAL BEDROOM.
