Do you read it twice?
I love it when people quote what appears in the post immediately above it so I get to read it twice. I'm being sarcastic of course -- I mean, as if I couldn't make the connection...
So I was curious (and slightly bored)...

alright. i'll be contrary.
i like it. i can't read the board all at one sitting. i have to swap back and forth between windows. if you've quoted something, i know what you're replying to. i understand the thread better.
if y'all could remember to say what you're replying to, then fine. but often, i'll get to a thread (i read by showing what arrived since last time i was here) and all it'll say is "yeah, what he said!". and i have no clue what he said.
so, fine, i like it.
flame away. it's chilly in boston anyway. we've got SNOW! though, thankfully, it's not sticking.

otay, i concede that you needn't necessarily quote the message just before yours. however, the way you phrased it, a quote was totally not necessary.miss buenos aires wrote:But, Poppet, is it really necessary to quote the post that immediately precedes your post? Won't everyone reading this understand that I'm replying to you?
as you can see by the fact that i quoted, i want people to notice that this is a reply to MBA's post.
maybe i've been on the internet too long. i like some quoting. okay, usually NOT the whole damn message. but enough for context.
i think i shall shut up now and go do work. it is why i'm at the office.

I don't mind it when somebody isolates a point (say a line's worth or less), but just not when a whole big post (at worst) is quoted. It's just a matter of common sense, and we're all pretty smart here...

My favourite (there's my wonderful sarcasm again Ms.BA, just for you) is when someone quotes the post immediately above just to add, "I agree" essentially, not adding a new angle on it or anything new. Or, when someone quotes themselves as if to say, "See? That's what I said". The bigger and less discriminating the content of the quote, the worse...
I think my point has been made by now...
