"And the clock strikes the letters of your name at both midnight and noon."
What could her name be?
T W E L V E
I'm guessing it is from those letters, being that 12:00 is midnight and noon.
Velvet? Hah, hmmm...

I think it just mean's he's guilty about being being thrown out, and can't stop thinking about the girl all day and all of the night; but quite a cool, if a little tenuous, theory!

Maybe the person in question has twelve letters in their name and the clock strikes once for every letter in their name.

Perhaps he's talking directly to her and her name is "Both Midnight And Noon".
Who’s this kid with his mumbo jumbo?

perhaps he's talking to a Chinese girl called XII
"XII, may be the (clock) face I can't forget,
a trace of pleasure or regret..."

Maybe her name is Miss Mahogany. That's not a reference to anything, I just couldn't come up any 12-letter names...

Elvis' first wife has 12 letters in her name, whether you call her Mary Burgoyne, Mary MacManus, or Mary Costello.
