TOP 10 ALBUM COVERS... WITH ANIMALS

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

noiseradio listens to horrible, punk, thoughtless music that has album covers with animals (NOFX)- yet he hates shouting.

That Van Morrison cover is a classic. Porn for sheepshaggers. [Edited to say, Well, close enough anyway. They're huge, hairy dogs. Must have been thinking about "Ram".]

Doesn't the Squeeze album "Frank" have a turtle on the cover?

I like horrible, punk, thoughtless music, and I don't like shouting either! Okay, that's not quite true. I like shouting quite a bit; what I don't like is being shouted at.

Squeeze's "Ridiculous" has got a gorilla on the cover.
And "When I Was Cruel" has got bees. (ok, they're not real...)

there's that dog on the cover of Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. I've always wondered if that was Art.

Whar, this is the virus speaking as I cross over threads to ask of you, with all sincerity, the meaning of the phrase "For a Republican - you try too hard"

What does that mean?

And I am not a Repulican at all. I am, however, a conservative. The groups overlap, but not nearly as much as they once did.

Maybe you are confusing "trying to hard" with "critical thinking". I can see how you might be confused by that. But please, help me out and explain your admonishment (is that 'jargon'?).

You will need to excuse my shouting when I say:

JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH, will you guys never tire of this? Is there any way, any way at all that you could be persuaded to do this sniping via private message? Once again, a perfectly respectable thread has been derailed by the slag-fest that you continue to inflict upon the rest of us. I enjoy spirited discussion as much as anyone, but this can hardly be characterized as anything but mean-spirited, let alone as a discussion. Please, please, please I am begging you; have some mercy upon my acid reflux and give it a rest.

My most sincere apologies if I have given offense.

John Hiatt's 'Walk On' has a dog in silhouette. I like it.

No, that wasn't jargon, Mr. A.

Maybe you're just too smart for me?

Actually, G2Shoes, that's why I left my sincere question in this thread, because the demeaning comments were made in an EC Discussion thread and I was genuinely curious on the meaning... I didn't get it. So as not to derail the very strong thread in which the disparaging comments were made, I shunted my question to this one. Please accept my apology, but I think it would benefit more than I to understand the logic behind the vitriolic attacks that are reminiscent of a time when the board crumbled because of a few posters who made it the norm to spew crap, and not information. I hope that my posts are seen as having some informational value, taken holistically.

I agree with you, but just as in sports, it is usually the person who defends themselves/their integrity (i.e. responds to a cheap shot) that gets the penalty flag.

I thought this thread was fluffy enough that it would not induce too much anxiety, it being about animals on album covers. I did not consider it to be too heavy of a thread to solicit an answer.

Clearly, you have never attempted to communicate with some members of the board via the PM feature. You think this is ridiculous? Put on your seat belt...

Mr. A- apparently YOU'VE never attempted to use the PM feature. I haven't gotten one from you about this at all.

You did PM me once, regarding our love for the under-appreciated "Episode Of Blonde", and I quickly responded.

Please give it a rest. I've called you out on bringing your virus into other threads, now just PM me. It'd make me a lot happier about surfing the board as well.

Also, I didnt see your post Goody2Shoe, if I had- I would not have responded with what I did.

WHAR, do you not like punk music then?

Basement Jaxx's wicked album Rooty has the albino gorilla (that recently died) from Barcelona zoo on it.

I like certain bands, whether or not they're punk always seems to be a given person's "opinion".

I've heard Saves the Day, The Stryder, and Junction 18 be called everything from "post punk" to "pop punk". NOFX, on the other hand... is just silly.

Yes, thats why I dont think of Saves the Day as punk.

Chris Conley writes some of the greatest lyrics I've ever read. The only person who I think can come close to matching his pen is Elvis. It's incredible. Without his words, Saves The Day would just be like any other band.

The Basement Tapes featured a lovable houndog and an equally loveable (if a bit boozy & coked out) Levon Helm. Two great animals for the price of one!

"...I never looked around, never second-guessed
Then I read some howard zinn now I’m always depressed
And now I can’t sleep from years of apathy
All because I read a little noam chomsky

I’m eating vegetation, ’cause of fast food nation
I’m wearing a couple of shoes ’cause of globalization
I’m watching michael moore expose the awful truth
I’m listening to public enemy and reagan youth

I see no world peace ’cause of zealous armed forces
I eat no breath-mints ’cause their from de-hoofed horses
Now I can’t believe; what an absolute failure
The president’s laughing ’cause we voted for nader

That’s no way to go, franco un-american
No way to go, franco un-american
No way to go, franco un-american
Where can we go, franco un-american

I want to move north and be a canadian
Or hang down low with the nice australians
I don’t want to be another ’i-don’t-care-ican’
What are we gonna do franco, franco un-american"

--NOFX, "Franco Un-American"

Seemed appropriate to the thread (since it makes those animal referrences).

I guess that is silly. Too bad NOFX can't brush silliness away with their tool to fix musical hygeine.
