Pure Pop for Now People...

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Pure Pop for Now People...

Post by Who Shot Sam? »

Great summer for pop records. I'm especially enjoying the new Fountains of Wayne record, "Welcome Interstate Managers" and Pernice Brothers' "Yours, Mine & Ours."

Who says nobody knows how to write a tune anymore?

Goddam, I love the new Fountains of Wayne record. It's not out here till late September so I had to get it off amazon.com. So much good stuff, particularly "Valley Winter Song", "Hey Julie" and "Fire Island".

If it's purepop you want, get Junior Senior's "D-D-Dont't Stop the Beat". Such dumb fun.

DrJ, I think my favorite so far off of WIM is the country one.

"since you hung up on me
I've been hung up on you."

The album sounds so good!

OH, and DrJ, there's a song about a waitress who leaves....

There is some serious Beatleness coming off of that track...but I can't pin down all of the specific Beatle allusions...any ideas?
Loving this board since before When I Was Cruel.
