EC Cheap CDs

Post by verbal gymnastics »

http://www.101cd.com/search/artists.asp ... S+COSTELLO

This link had a whole feast of the Elvis Double CDs for £5.99 (+£1.99 p+p).

There can't be any excuses for not getting them at these prices can there?

Just received Mighty Like A Rose 2cd from this very site in this morning's post for £8.95 delivered. MLAR was the last album that I only had on LP.

I spotted that too earlier on and ordered. I was hoping they'd left She's Pulling Out The Pin off it to give me a reason to keep the original CD! I guess I'll just have to give it to someone...

Has anyone received anything they ordered from 101cd.com? They're still saying the CD is on order with their suppliers. They have a bit of a reputation for this sort of thing and it seems to be happening here too.

Had this experience with them on two occasions, most absurdly with Green Day. No. 1 in the charts, and it took the best part of a month, ccompletely missing my son's birthday, which was the reason for ordering it. Play.com are much better. if it's in stock, it comes soon. 101 have great prices and seemingly a huge stock, but generally give internet shopping a bad name.

cheap cds

To defend 101, their website clearly states that the cheap Demon CDs (including EC and Ian Dury rereleases) will be delivered week commencing 1st March. If you want a quick order don't go for them. If you want real bargains and don't mind waiting a week or two, they're great value. Play are generally the best but stock US versions, so not the greatest if you want extra UK tracks (who'd pull a trick like that!!!??)

Haven't that experience with Play myself. Fair dues if 101 are sayng they'll ship later. In the case of the above Green Day CD, they mailed me to say it had been despatched and took my cash, then mailed to see that was an error, but it would be despatched shortly, and then another 2-3 weeks passed. These things happen.

I receive my stuff from Play within a few days at most. I got Athlete's new CD from them before it was released here 8)

I received most of my stuff from 101CD without any problem but my EC Singles Volume 1 took an eternity to arrive although the other two Volumes came really quickly. Still, I wasn't going to argue at the price they are selling it for.

I prefer Play.com to be honest.

Clearly? I've looked at the individual pages for each of the reduced albums and can't see that anywhere. The Demon promotion page is no longer linked from the home page and each cd is listed as usually sent in 3-5 days. Hardly clear.

Further to this, even they don't seem to know anything about this 1st March dispatch date. I received this email after asking what had happened....
101cd.com wrote:I am sorry for any delay. Your order has been placed with our suppliers
and we are waiting for the item to be sent to us. Unfortunately we do not
have an exact date at the moment, but as soon as we have your order we
will send it to you. Your credit card has not yet been charged for this
item.

Thank you for your patience and our apologies for any delays.

Don't know why I'm being an apologist for 101, but look here:
http://www.101cd.com/offers/top.asp?typ=CPG&prmid=943
Comes up quickly on my browser from their home page, via CD offers.
Amazon are normally quick, but I received TDM over a week late from them - pretty bad for a new release - so I guess they're all a bit variable. For instance, Play delivered Springsteen's The Rising 4 days before scheduled UK release. Do record shops still exist??? If only..

You are quiet correct, yes. On that one page it is made clear. However, can't help thinking that might be better placed on the inidividual item pages and quite why their own staff seemed to know nothing about it, who knows?
Very shabby, but as has been said, good for a bargain.

Play.com used to sell most of EC's reissues for £7.99 but awhile ago they raised the price to £11.99. Today however I noticed they've dropped the price to £6.99. It may be part of the easter sale though so hurry up. Keep in mind play.com offers free shipping so for now most of them are cheaper than 101's.

I just ordered the Almost Blue reissue (previously £12.99) myself.

Not to worry, got it from the Amazon marketplace for £8.75, came very quickly and in very good condition. I now have all the reissues - hooray!

UK residents may be interested to know that Virgin have a load of EC reissues in the 5 for £30 offer that started this week.
