inspirational metaphors! or something. my friend asked me to tell her a story, and this is what came out.
****
summer says,
with infinite languid seduction and sprawl,
'there is no way to leave gently.
the only door from here to there
is locked with goodbyes and horoscopes that tell you to turn back.'
[summer tells you to watch out for the oncoming traffic,
because it'd be silly to be run over by an ice-cream truck,
at this point in your life.]
fall doesn't speak,
but moves, with dry crackling academia
and notebooks filled with addresses
of people back home.
fall dances rustily with just-now-remembered grace.
[written across the shuffling hands of fall,
in blue-black ink, is a note: 'there's no point
in leaving gently. in the shed behind today is a pair of bolt cutters
and a crowbar.']

if we can rock together, why can't we walk together?

Admirable
Yes, nice imagery, and an excellent use of brackets.
