I've had the same 80GB iPod since March '08, apparently. It died this week and the nice people at the Apple store traded it in for a healthy new 160GB model. Just as well because it is ingrained into my life (before I sleep, when I wake, walking the dog, etc.) in a way that is hard to live without. This year I got the best headphones I've used on it so far, still budget at £35, but really good quality:

A lot of users recommend these for an additional £15. Sounds like a lot for an improvement, but I can report back that the sounds is indeed substantially better and they also feel super comfortable:

iPod heaven for £50. Recommended.

I find the in-ear headphones a bit uncomfortable if I listen to them for a long time.
Anyone got any recommendations for the bigger headphones, something around the £50 price bracket??

I do find my above recommendation very comfortable, though. The extra cushioning the foam tips bring means I can wear them comfortably for long periods. Though of course one shouldn't use them for too long without a break ...
