It seems that every few years/months there comes on the scene a new musical technology that 'people in the know' say will change the industry. Neil Young is at the forefront of this particular movement. Is this a new format? How does it differ from MP3?

All I know is that apparently it is a huge improvement on MP3s sonically...and its files will be more expensive than the average iTunes song or whatever.
I can't claim to be an audiophile at all, so unless I notice a MASSIVE difference I'll personally be unlikely to pursue it, assuming it costs significantly more.
