In no order:
Jeff Buckley, GRACE
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B0000029DD.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Yes, it's on all the lists, but even apart from being a genius record, it holds very, very intense associations for me.
Joni Mitchell, SHADOWS AND LIGHT
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002GXI.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
I've gone on and on about this one before. Amazing group of performers, with Joni at her peak. Takes heavily from Hejira but give you loads of other great stuff as well, such as a corker rendition of "Free Man In Paris"
Bjork, HOMOGENIC
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002HPV.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Hard to pick among her records, but this one's it in the end.
Beatles, LET IT BE
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002UB6.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Despite all critical arguments I could make to justify otherwise, this is still my fave Beatles record.
Electric Light Orchestra, A NEW WORLD RECORD
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B0000025DT.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
What can I say?
Various, UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD soundtrack
![Image](http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/8e/9a/26f4b220dca082edc7693010.L.jpg)
Fantastic start-to-finish mix of stuff. I never ever skip a track on this (not even Elvis's "Days"!).
Kate Bush, HOUNDS OF LOVE
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002U9E.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
As with Bjork, hard to pick just one.
Genesis, FOXTROT
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000002J1M.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
I could almost as easily have picked its brother record, NURSEY CRYME.
Billy Bragg, THE PEEL SESSIONS
![Image](http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/Sources/AMGCOVERS/music/cover200/drc000/c009/c00927a851l.jpg)
Everything I love about him is here.
Shawn Colvin, A FEW SMALL REPAIRS
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000002B4G.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Soundtrack to the dissolution of my marriage. Also, a great record to sing along to, and the closest I can come to contemporary American folk without puking.
David Bowie, HEATHEN
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000065V1V.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
No, not his VERY best, but so, so important to me. Engraved on my heart.
Nirvana, UNPLUGGED IN NEW YORK
![Image](http://g-images.amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/fa/7f/5b96024128a09c6b552d9010.L.jpg)
Does anyone not love this record??
Morrissey, VIVA HATE
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002LDQ.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Again, of all the Moz and Smiths stuff, this ain't the best, but it means the most to me.
Frank Black, TEENAGER OF THE YEAR
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002HF0.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Another one that was hard to pick. About 4 other FB albums were vying very competitively for this slot.
Evis Costello, TRUST
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000B1A5S.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Overall, the one that sums it all up for me. Today, anyway.
Old And In the Way, [self-titled]
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002VKC.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
A nod to Bluegrass and to my days as a Deadhead Wife. Though I loved this record long before I met my ex. You can't argue with the musicianship, the songs, or the vibe of the live performance.
Lee Wiley, SINGS THE SONGS OF IRA GERSHWIN AND COLE PORTER
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000001UPD.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
About as good as standards get, IMO. Could just as easily have chosen her one of Harold Arlen and Rogers & Hart, and on another day, I will.
Nat King Cole, LOVE IS THE THING
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00000DQU1.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
My entry for the Sinatra slot.
Stravinsky, RITE OF SPRING
![Image](http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000040OCJ.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
Monumentally great, can't live without it.
J.S. Bach, MAGNIFICAT
![Image](http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00004RITR.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)
First piece of classical music I ever loved. Still can't get enough of it.
