I just discovered that W. Earl Brown, the actor who plays (rather amazingly) Swearengen's right hand man Dan Dority on Deadwood, was also Cameron Diaz's handicapped brother in There's Something About Mary. If you've been following Deadwood, the contrast there is unbelievable to the point of alchemy.
Can't get into "Deadwood", though I've tried. Oh well, the last thing I need is more time in front of the boob tube.
MG: That's very cool news about your Dad - how long has he been doing puzzles for? My dad's a bit obsessed with the NYT crossword - does it every day and almost always manages to finish. Saturday can be a real bitch - harder than Sunday IMO because there's less margin for error.

Holy crap. Of course, when my sister saw E.B. Farnum, she cried, "This is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl!"
WSS?, Sunday puzzles have the same level of difficulty as Thursday puzzles. And I am very sorry to hear that you don't like Deadwood. Great television, that is.
After Doc and I celebrated 10 years of marriage on Wednesday and then put two kids in braces yesterday, found out a third kid gets his braces off next month and then took the daughter to get senior pictures made, I don't know how much more excitement I can take. . . . . .except that I am considering a VERY last minute decision to go to Atlanta on Monday to see Elvis. . . . .wondering whether or not to blow the bucks. . . . .

Don't be a hooplehead dirt worshipper, WSS! I'm just kidding......what season have you checked out? If it's season one, then I'll admit that it can be a bit of a slog sometimes where seasons 2 and 3 hit the ground like a thunderclap.
I'm pretty sure it was season one. My wife's not into the western thing at all (even a sort of anti-western like this), and we usually like to watch these sorts of shows on Sunday nights after we've managed to get the kids tucked in, so if she's not a fan and it doesn't grab me after a few episodes I give it a pass.
Mrs. Sam is also anti-swearing (must be from having been dragged to Bible school when she was younger), so the language turned her off. Of course, that hasn't stopped me from dropping plenty of "goddammits" in the kids' presence and letting the occasional F word slip at home (I always get a dirty look and a stern admonition). I don't get it to be honest - she's the most anti-clerical person I know but is still prudish when it comes to profanity.
My kids think it's hilarious when I curse. The more I do the harder they laugh. I know that doesn't make me mother of the year, but it helps keep me sane somehow.
My mother cursed like a fucking sailor. I don't guess that will come as a surprise to anyone 'round here... I suspect she inherited the habit from her Cockney dad.
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load
My son got his exam results today - he got a 2-1 degree in law!! *happy dancing* He can now put LLB after his name. (Bachelor Of Law)
Other happy news - my daughter who has just landed her first journalist job after getting her degree in media has just had her first main story published on mobile phone scams on Ebay!!
Youngest sons first college exam results out next month.......
Bravo!! Nothing boring to me about a deservedly proud mum.
As for random thoughts, well,
This f-ing heat is melting me, body and soul. Here's what I did last night:
Showered.
Sat in front of the fan watching CSI.
Showered.
Sat in front of the fan watching more CSI.
Showered.
Sat in front of the fan watching yet more CSI.
Showered.
Went to bed. In front of the fan.
