Just In From The Onion

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

I always wince when they do a bit on the obsessive mix cd guys. A little bit too close to home for my liking!

So what we're really saying here is that the guy mentioned in the Onion has nothing on our own board members.

The Onion wrote:"Talking Heads was a crucial band for its time," said David Bowman, author of This Must Be The Place: The Adventures Of The Talking Heads In The 20th Century. "Their quirky brand of music brought African and funk flavors to American pop, both in the underground and on Top 40 radio. David Byrne's influence can still be heard in modern hip-hop. If you have a couple hours, I'd be happy to talk at you about it."
If you have a couple of other hours, I could tell you why "the" doesn't belong before "Talking Heads" in that book's title.

And I laugh and laugh and laugh at myself.

In my own defense, I began my spreadsheet only recently, after many years of collecting records and CD's, and it's limited to compilations and soundtracks. I've found that my memory isn't as sharp as it once was, and I don't want to have to ever say, "Gee, I know I have a live recording of 'Alison' on which Neil Young harmonises with Elvis, but I can't recall which album it's on."
"But it's a dangerous game that comedy plays
Sometimes it tells you the truth
Sometimes it delays it"

Did I ever mention that I've seen the film Ray Manzarek made while he was at UCLA?

Hmmm... I think I've seen that guy at TT The Bear's...

How much do I love that they placed that story in Boston? Mission of Burma and Galaxie 500, indeed. But how could he have left out O Positive and Human Sexual Response?!?! That loser doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground!!

(I'm kidding, cause MOB and G5 are probably more influential...)
