In particular, the line:
All that professional lipstick/pressed into an amateur kiss
I just love all the song, so very happy and yet so very very acidic. Too many words in one single song though!

If there were a king of fools than I would wear that crown/And you can all die laughing/Because I'll wear it proudly.

the lyric that goes "they asked how in the world he does all these things & he answered 'superbly' "
And the fact that the title reminds me of my favourite author Philip K Dick (Elvis is also a fan).

One of my favourite songs off Trust, it's just a brilliant ensemble performance - the bassline, drums and especially Steve's virtuoso moment in the middle of it all. Great vocal performance from EC too.Who Shot Sam? wrote:All that lovely John McFee pedal steel.DeathWearsABigHat wrote:Stranger In The House

The tempo changes are great. It opens with a pounding fast beat that then smooths out into the first verse.

The guitar/keyboard groove is so eminently lounge/sixties, and the "foreign fingers" bit , AND the title of course.
Love Field
Love Field
echos myron like a siren
with endurance like the liberty bell
and he tells you of the dreamers
but he's cracked up like the road
and he'd like to lift us up, but we're a very heavy load

I like the fact that its such a jolly little tune with such bitter words - and I love the lines
While I have to tolerate you family jewels
I really mustn't grumble
('Cause) when I die the cats and dogs will jump up and down
And you little swines will get nothing
Though I almost had a weakness
Motel Matches

I like the funny impact "pack up your troubles in a stolen handbag" has among the overall disquieting tone. And the fact that EC sounds so cool on it despite the fact that they rushed to record it and release it as a single. And of course the sense of foreboding captured by primarily Steve's piano playing.
