Well, I have more pics for everyone.

First of all, I'd like to show this pic of Mood Swung and her Mr. Mood. They are wonderful people I had the chance to meet, along with Oily Slick and his family, in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee last Sunday.

Image

And, since Oily decided to remain facially mysterious, this is the only pic I could get of him. That's me on the left, Oily in the middle, and Mood on the right.

Image

And thanks to Double Dutchess for finally sending me this photo. Thanks so much dear!

Image

And last but not least, we get our first view of ElVez and his lovely girlfriend. These were taken at her graduation recently.

Rope - It was a very weak joke. LS Lowry is a well known artist (painter) over here.

This'll get stuck in the head of anyone who knows the Brian & Michael song about Lowry.

"And he painted matchstick men
And matchstick cats and dogs"

Great photo's everybody!

Some from my weekend... :)

I'm a little the worse for wear here...actually not drunk at all, just being silly:

Image

Me and my girlfriend ... this is how she'd like you to think she was, all sweetness and light:

Image

THIS, however, is more accurate:

I wouldn't mess with her if I were you, taz! I think she could hurt you.

But you'd probably like that, wouldn't you?

taz, that second picture of the lady friend is wonderful. sweetness and light is so very horribly overrated. who the hell needs sweetness and light all the time? ICK! might as well sit around eating cotton candy all the time.

Hey, I thought we agreed eating cotton candy was good, Poppet? :)

Although, not ALL the time.

(i used to make cotton candy at an amusement park. i have credentials here.)

Oh man...you were a 'carnie'?

And Spooky...of course I would like it...

i don't think working at busch gardens as a summer job makes one a carnie. it indicates that you're a bit of a sucker, but i don't think you'd qualify as a carnie being a sucker.

(pay was crap, treatment was lousy, it was 'cool' to work there though - suckered me into working there for a summer. but i did gain the skill of being able to make cotton candy, oh joy!)

Thanks for the pics, Pip. Looks like this may be the only way I see Elvis in concert unless he comes south! :o Glad you got to go!

i was perfectly serious about being a sucker. :)

Busch Gardens VA. i've spent way too much time there. girl scout field trips! i have an entire book of photos of freaky candles somewhere. and when i was old enough, free beer samples at the brewery. it tastes better when it's free.

Poppet...

I actually dated a "carny" (CORRECT SPELLING) for a year, while my husband & I were separated (August 1994 to October 1995). He was GORGEOUS, the answer to all of my prayers.

My boy-child was all of 7 at the time, he was 41.

"Mike" was whinier than the kid. And the kid was REALLY whiny!!

Picture this: I'm working for an answering/paging service as an operator, 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., days varied. A call comes in on the "Emergency" line at 7:00 a.m., asking for "Operator #55" (yeah, me). I think someone's been decapitated/mangled/etc. only to hear this--

"Gordon won't put his socks on!!"

Who the f**k is the adult here???

I kicked him out about 4 months later, after repeated episodes of this crap. He called me almost daily for 3 months after, "Baby, I LOVE you...we can work this out!!!"

I told him, "If I wanted another child, I'd get pregnant and HAVE one!"

Hubby and I managed a reconciliation shortly thereafter...
But, that's another story.

Rope - Yes, I know Raymond Roewy, he was famous as an american industrial designer. I think he designed coke machines, styled petrol stations... heaps of post-war consumer stuff besides several vehicles, including planes. He was a big promoter of industrial design in general, and a relentless self-promoter. Besides him, I'd heard of Harley Earl as another big name in US auto design, he was the first to incorporate tailfins on cars.

Yes, Harly Earl put upright taillights on the 1949 Cadillac, and the tailfin craze was born. Virgil Exner was the man who made the tailfin beautiful, after he left the Loewy studio for Chrysler, and gave them his "Forward Look":

You could actually buy this thing, and drive it down the street, and go fairly unnoticed.

I'll have to check out the other Loewy, So Lack. Sweet P, it asks for a password, then says the page cannot be diplayed. I think if we had your email address and password, we might get to look. There's gotta be a better way.
