This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Mr and Mrs Jackson Doofmonkster spot famous star!!!

Post by Jackson Monk »

Last weekend, myself and the lovely Mrs Monkdoofster abandoned the children for a long weekend of love in Paris. This was our first trip away without the kids since before the eldest was born (nearly 8 years ago).

During our splendid weekend, we came across five uncanny lookalikes....except....one of them was really a star...and we spent 20 minutes in his company

Which one did we really see and where....??

No prizes...it's just for fun...

I'd love it if it was Fitz/Hagrid in the restaurant...

Hugh Grant. No question! You better have asked him 'about' 'About A Boy'.

Not EC, Not Steve Martin because I've heard nothing but bad stories from people who meet him.

I'll go with Hugh Grant, because airports with the waiting etc, can mean you can really get to know your celebrity well.

I vote for Pompidou, because that's where I saw Stephen Malkmus (who looks, alas, much older in person).

I voted for David Duchovny because I used to be a big X-Files fan and because I don't think he's really doing anything these days so he would have time to hang out.

Hey MBA, Al Gore got the most votes, too, but that doesn't make him president!

It's definitely either Coltrane or Duchovny. (And, I too have heard at least one disconcerting S. Martin story, from a pretty reliable source, sad to say.)

Does it have to be one of these 5, or can I take a different guess ? I think it was Robbie Williams.

It couldn't have been Steve Martin, because he just hands out cards that say something like, "This is to prove I met Steve Martin and found him to be thoroughly funny, charming, entertaining and a top guy".

Well ...times up....

Twas Mr Steve Martin who was strolling around the exhibits in the Musee National d'Art de Moderne, taking a deep interest in the Aurelie Nemours exhibition...

Mr Martin was clearly well aware of the discreet nudging and pointing going on around him and was lapping it up and wearing a smug grin. Surely he must have realised that people were smirking at his quite ridiculous pencil moustache!!

With regard to the exhibits themselves, will someone please, please, please tell me what I am failing to see in abstract 'painting'. :?

The point?

So 'in his company' meant 'in the same room'? Somewhat disappointing, Mr M. Glad you got away for the trip.

Pretty sure more than one of us assumed that "in his company" meant more like a dinner for two, a serious discussion of etchings or an invitation to join in on your "2nd honeymoon"!!!

The point to abstract painting is that you don't have to make corrections. I voted for Huge.

My turn.

On our recent family holiday to the joys of Eurodisney did we see:

a) Anabelle Croft in front of us in the queue at Charles De Gaulle airport?
b) Elvis Costello dressed as Mickey Mouse?
c) Elvis Presley working as a toilet attendant? or
d) An Australian board member doing a Freddie Mercury impression and riding thunder mountain?

What a fun thread this is eh?
