You are absolutely right.
Alison's new album Voice does indeed feature not one but two Costello compositions, Almost Blue and the Bacharach collaboration God Give Me Strength.
Alison has been a fan of Costello since she was 16 and has said that his writing and vocal approach has had a substantial influence on her. God Give Me Strength was recorded as an alternative to Almost Blue for the album but in the end she liked them both so much, the two tracks made it onto the album.
The whole album has been produced and arranged by Anne Dudley. For me, God Give Me Strength is the emotional core of the whole album and my favourite track.
You should give it a try!![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Alison Moyet
"Voice"(Sanctuary)
Alison Moyet's voice digs deep. It's not just her dark and manly pitch that drives home the point, but her intense concentration. She holds her notes hard, contemplating the feeling behind each while refusing to indulge the trills and tricks flashier singers use to get listeners to view them as virtuosos. (Listening, Mariah?)
Such stalwart qualities have given Moyet all the character she needs to cut an album of interpretive songs like "Voice." She may be the thousandth modern singer to tackle the pop standards over the last few years, but she's one of the few who deserves to.
Longtime fans know this British singer from her early years fronting the synth-pop group Yaz, or from her sizable solo career. Each has brought her far more acclaim overseas then here. Certainly, Moyet's smoky tone and androgynous pitch deserve to be known by more U.S. listeners. Maybe her leap onto the standards bandwagon will help make that happen.
Moyet's notion of "standards" centers on midcentury lounge pop. Her album plants a virtual wet kiss on the kinds of songs we associate with older British singers, like Dusty Springfield and Petula Clark. They include "Windmills of Your Mind," "Cry Me a River" and "Alfie." Moyet's smoldering tone brings warmth and wonder to these warhorses. In between, she stresses French ballads, like "Je Crois Entendre Encore" and "La Chanson des Vieux Amants," as Clark did when she was young.
Moyet mines special emotion from two Elvis Costello covers. On "Almost Blue," she smooths out the melody to offer the most accessible version of the song to date. On "God Give Me Strength," she shifts some lyrics to make the song less guarded and more painfully open. She hasn't radically reinterpreted the songs, being too respectful for that. But she has brought to them enough thoughtfulness and feeling to help us hear not just their power but her own.

Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.
Should track one be highlighted too, or is it just a coincidence..?johnfoyle wrote:

Alison Moyet announces deluxe reissues
On 2nd October Cooking Vinyl release Deluxe Editions of Alison Moyet's critically-acclaimed, best-selling albums Hometime, Voice and The Turn, all of which feature rare and previously unreleased material.
The Brit-nominated Hometime featured several songs co-written with Alison's long time collaborator Pete Glenister. It was produced by The Insects, whose co-writing credits include Massive Attack and Madonna. On Hometime, The Sunday Times said 'Moyet's voice is simply unbelievable', Mojo called it 'magnificent' and The Independent declared 'it may be her best album, period'.
Disc 2 of Hometime features previously unheard demo versions of album tracks The Train I Ride and More, but the biggest coup for Moyet fans comes in the shape of two entirely unheard songs - Sea Child and How Long - which are demos of tracks that were never fully produced or released.
With Voice, Alison made a radical diversion and recorded an album of songs by other composers that she loved, with the intention of concentrating on her instrument alone - minus the songwriting she was synonymous for.
Voice marked a first for Alison, as it featured a classical orchestra and was produced and arranged by Academy Award winner Anne Dudley. It entered the UK album charts at No.7 and reached gold status, selling a quarter of a million copies.
It showcased Moyet's eclectic tastes, and above all - her voice at its best. The Guardian described 'extraordinary tones' and 'flawless' renditions of La Chanson Des Vieux Amants and Bye Bye Blackbird.
Poppy and dark, simple and soaringly orchestrated The Turn was a unique creation of surprising variety and exceptional depth, that found Moyet at an adventurous new creative peak. Q called it 'classic Moyet' whilst Evening Standard dubbed it 'an album worthy of her fabulously expressive voice'.
