The Songs of War Babies, third album and produced by Todd. Never, in my opinion, a brighter moment for the duo, where Daryl simply steamrolled over John and kicked his ass with the music that is at his heart.
1. Can't Stop The Music(He Played It Much To Long)
2. Is It A Star
3. Beane G. And The Rose Tattoo
4. You're Much Too Soon
5. 70's Scenario
6. War Baby Son Of Zorro
7. I'm Watching You(A Mutant Romance)
8. Better Watch Your Back
9. Screaming Through December
10. Johnny Gore And The > Eaters
You make think you know Hall and Oates, but until you hear War Babies, you have no idea what this band was capable of. Unfortunately, top 40 and AM airplay killed the concept. Todd and his killer guitar make this a great piece.
Fortunately, Daryl released, "Sacred Songs", a great record allowing some of the War Babies influence and feel to resurface.
But my favorite Daryl Hall album, bar none, is a masterpiece called "Soul Alone", where he brigs Philly Soul to life through the lips of a lily-white (not Steve) guy. Great record, Soul Alone. Highly recommended.
