RIP Charles Nelson Reilly

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Looks like he was the US equivalent of Bruce Forsyth

I knew him best as a flamboyant panelist on the 70s game show Match Game. Sadly, however, he is one of those people I thought had died long ago...
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

I can vividly remember watching him on TV as a child, both on Matchgame and Lidsville. He was a truly unique guy.

I did not realize he'd been on Lidsville and Spongebob! I'll be The Dirty Bubble this week in his honor.

Plus he was on The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Now there's quality TV for you. However, my main association with him will always be:

He won a Tony for his role as the conniving, whiny, jealous Bud Frump in this 1961 musical. My parents were Broadway addicts and saw many of the big shows that came out in the 50s and 60s. This record got tons of play by us kids, and I could still sing every note of it to you on demand. Truly hilarious stuff, and frankly I think it colored my whole life attitude toward the world of work before I'd even finished elementary school. (The film is great-- high camp complete with perfectly over-the-top choreography by Bob Fosse-- but CNR did not reprise his Broadway role in it.)

His most visible role to post-Generation X was on The X-Files.

He put the "flam" in flamboyant. RIP
