In Elvis' 'interview with himself ' he specifies the location where Jake Rivera suggested the 'Elvis Costello' name. It's The New Born Cafe, Westbourne Grove, London W2 .

The New Born Restaurant was a typical greasy spoon café and was situated in Westbourne Grove London W2 just across from Hereford Road. The photograph in the above attachment is from over 30 years ago and at that time there was an eccentric but very lovely landlady who owned a number of houses in Hereford Road and she was proud of the fact that she charged the lowest rents for bedsits in Central London (£9.00 per week). Many bedsitters from Hereford Road would come here on a Saturday or Sunday morning to meet fellow bedsitters and to nurse a hangover from the previous nights revelling.

Sadly the New Born closed down in 1984 and was replaced by a Chinese Restaurant. I’m really not sure when it started up. I guess around 1970 but could have been earlier. I remember the proprietor and chef (one in the same person) who was called Cyril.

Thanks for posting this, John! My high school French is rusty but it appears one may be able to download the clips for 3 Euros each. I am going to give it a go and will let you know if it works.

Pump It Up June 10, 1979
ABSOLUTELY SMOKIN' version

Looks like the longer clips only show a 2 minute preview. I guess those are the ones you pay for?

Extremely hilarious! And his answers seem amazingly spontaneous, somehow. That's got to be the best "interview" and the best "acting" he's ever done.

I posted the link to the ' interview' here, on EC listserv and on my Facebook page last night. This morning it popped up on Elvis' official Facebook page , tagged "Groucho Costello: Fashion Leader and Oracle." I doubt it's Elvis himself updating the page but it seems to prove that someone on his behalf is monitoring things. I am , of course, dead chuffed!

Now if only someone would ask Elvis about Marc Stuart Dreier -
