Really cool. I always loved that picture.
Also:
Nick Lowe pointed out that we really needed 50,000 Watts of power, a remark originally inspired by his seeing a Thin Lizzy gig.
Nick refers to 50,000 watts (in a big acoustic tower) in his song "So It Goes" from Jesus Of Cool/Pure Pop For Now People. Is this the Thin Lizzy reference, or something else?

I really disagree about Sparkling Day. One of my favourite EC songs of the past 15 years.Poor Deportee wrote:Normally I don't pay any attention to compilations and happily ignore the 1-2 'bonus' tracks usually tagged on as a lure for the hard-core. But I think this one is actually a rather canny compilation, inasmuch as I - a big fan but never a completist - don't have several of these songs in my collection; a number of them are not contained on EC's albums. That would incline me toward buying it. Conversely, I know enough to know that at least some of those songs are not particularly outstanding (e.g., 'Sparkling Day'), which means shilling out for about 8 songs of merely middling quality.

My review of this album is finally up. The toughest part was assigning a rating:

Nice review. I was interested to read that the liner notes refer to all the songs left off. Are we to take this as an indication that EC agrees with most of us about the cynical, needlessly drab song selection? Good cover, though!wardo68 wrote:My review of this album is finally up. Elvis and Cait wrote a song for Robert Altman's Short Cuts. It is called 'Pushing Kiss' and is performed by Annie Ross & The Low Note Quintet. Annie plays a jazz singer in the film and she sings this song on stage.
