RIP Buck Owens

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

One of the first songs I learned on guitar was 'Tiger by the Tail' as sung by the inimitable Mr. Owens. He helped put Bakersfield on the map.

Man, I can remember him from wayyyyyyyyy back into my childhood. I just saw the report on CNN:

"I'd like to be remembered as a guy that came along and did his music, did his best and showed up on time, clean and ready to do the job, wrote a few songs and had a hell of a time," he said in 1992.

RIP

I need to learn up more on Mr. Owens -- though I pretty much love everything I know/remember of his.

However, it will always be one of my secret shames that I watched "Hee Haw" as a child...for the comedy and kind of ignored the music.

Why is everybody dying lately?
Preacher was a talkin' there's a sermon he gave,
He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied
