Thank you so much my friends.

Jody's lower back has had cramping-type pains the last 2 days. This is probably fine, right?, but the doctors have her SO paranoid that she gets worried about everything...

It's probably stress and the additional weight, poor gal. Best to always check (look it up in WTEWYE) but I just hope she feels better. It sucks that you can't take Ibuprofen when preggers, though Tylenol should help too. As will nice soothing rubs from hubby. :)

Well, there's something there between the legs.

We're going in for a more comprehensive ultrasound next Monday. It is a wondrous thing watching those ultrasounds...

Why do I get the feeling that life as I know it is going to change in a couple months?

Would Waltz#1 from XO be appropriate nursery music? It sounds like it would to me!

'Cause it fucking is! The first one's mostly fun - 'specially if it's a girl. It's the second one you have to worry about. Chaos ensues. Have your fun while you can.

Seriously, congratulations. There's nothing better than being a parent. The demands are huge, but so are the rewards.

Great news. My daughter is named Grace and she's an amazing person, 10 years old now and a force to be reckoned with.

Someone told me that when his first child was born a former bandmate said to him, "Well, now that you've got kids you won't listen to music anymore." From that moment on my friend decided to listen to MORE music than he had before. So don't let anyone take that away from you!

Don't get too excited, it might just be the umbilical cord...

Sonograms are pretty amazing these days. It could just be the umbilical chord, but if it looks like a penis, it probably is. What did the doctor think?

No doctor involvement YET - that's Monday. Jody works at an OB office, so Ultrasound Techs and Medical Assistants keep giving her ultrasounds on the side to see how the baby's growing.

I'll give an update after Monday's appointment!

"He" was sitting in the Lotus position the entire ultrasound! They saw scrotum though (which is more than Jody's seen in a while! kidding...) so they're still fairly sure it's a Jude and not a Grace. Well, it's a Grace either way, but you know.

Everything looks GREAT! Amazing.

Yay! Well done, youngsters.

Like the Lloyd Cole element to this thread. It stars Jody (who, you will recall, wears a hat though it hasn't rained for six days, she says a girl needs a gun these days on account of all the rattlesnakes), and its named after a classic from Love Story ('as long as I love my baby I'm only lonely' - I'm sure the same won't apply to you!).

Apart from all e.g. the Costello songs about babies etc I wish you/all yours/all - 'the best'.

Do not neglect the quality songs loved by children and by me by e.g. Burl Ives-Rolf Harris etc ...

These don't have anything specifically to do with babies, but the tunes (and lyrics) are just so upbeat and great-- just the stuff for singing and gently dancing around while holding a baby in your arms (the true test, imo). I had both of these on a compilation I made for my little guy. I'll try to remember what else was on it in the interim...

Paper Moon - Nat Cole
Put Your Big Toe In the Milk of Human Kindness - EC
I'm Putting All My Eggs In One Basket - Fred Astaire*

*The lyrics to this one were especially funny as I was pretty sure I'd only ever have one kid:

I'm putting all my eggs in one basket
I'm betting ev'rything I've got on you
I'm giving all my love to one baby
Heaven help me if my baby don't come through

I'm afraid I've no suggestions for songs, but just want to say Congratulations, and I hope everything goes marvellously.
If there were a king of fools than I would wear that crown/And you can all die laughing/Because I'll wear it proudly.

In - Be My Baby
Keep Your Hands Off My Baby

Out - Oh Boy!
Baby Baby Baby - Sam Cooke

Mechanical Grace, I know what you mean! 4th Time Around sounds PERFECT, so it's close, even though the lyrics may not be baby.

I have to say that overall, I prefer the ones not specifically about babies. A lot of the love songs are much more fitting and less sappy, and believe me you'll know when you have the little bean himself(?) it's absolutely a love affair.

Having said that, I must also say...

What?!? No 'Kooks'?!? That's essential-- written for the birth of his son Zowie, funny, happy and real:

Will you stay in our lovers story?
If you stay you won't be sorry
'Cause we believe in you
Soon you'll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing

We bought a lot of things
to keep you warm and dry
And a funny old crib on which the paint won't dry
I bought you a pair of shoes
A trumpet you can blow
And a book of rules
On what to say to people
when they pick on you
'Cause if you stay with us you're gonna be pretty kooky too

And if you ever have to go to school
Remember how they messed up
this old fool
Don't pick fights with the bullies
or the cads
'Cause I'm not much cop at punching other people's Dads
And if the homework brings you down
Then we'll throw it on the fire
And take the car downtown

Will you stay in our lovers story?
If you stay you won't be sorry
'Cause we believe in you
Soon you'll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing

Jody and I adore Kooks.

We added it, and we're still at 1.2 hours....nice.
