What is that piece of music in that movie....?
I was watching 'Scent of A Woman' with Pacino and Chris O'Donnell. (I don't mean I was watching with them in the room with me, but they were in the movie) In the tango scene where the blind Pacino is dancing with the young lady what is the name of the composition that is being played? I always mean to wait for the credits to get the info., but I never do.
Thanks for the help

Don't the name of that wonderful tango, but it was also in the opening and closing scene of "True Lies"....
Sadly, in both cases, the song was a great deal better than the movie -- and, at the same time, it was also the best scene in both movies!

I must beg to differ, Bobster. While I can see where some people would not prefer Scent of A Woman because it did drag at places, it was an enjoyable film with flawless acting and an intelligent screenplay.
As for the movie with the future 'govner' it was a good action film

Oily Slick: I didn't look it up; maybe I should, to confirm if the song that I have in my head is the one in question. The one in my head is Gardel. My tango fetish is now revealed....
Flintstones, meet the Flintstones, they're the modern stone age family
From the town of Bedrock, they're a something something history
That's as far as I can get--I should look it up!
Nope, too lazy.

Good one, HS! "True Lies" starring Arianna...now THAT would be worth seeing!HungupStrungup wrote:Ariana Huffington made an action movie?
As to the specific movies, I gotta agree with those who say that Pacino's performance was too over the top, almost self-parodying. (I actually thought Chris O'Donnell, who apparently is a one-performance-per-career actor, did better). Though I do enjoy Al in his scenery chewing mode at times. (He was a hoot in "The Devil's Advocate"). The movie itself was ordinary in the extreme, particularly the last act.
Re: "True Lies" -- aside from its thoughtless politics, it did boast a pretty great premise (borrowed from a French film) and a performance by Jamie Lee Curtis (though again, I can understand why some women objected to her big scene near the end).
Still, most the action and was pretty pointless, and it was pretty brutal for a film which purported to be a light action comedy for a more or less family audience. I was particularly disturbed by the scene in which Arnold breaks a (very) bad guy's neck in cold blood. I don't know why I seem to be the only person who finds it a LOT more disturbing when super-heroic characters murder someone in a film than when it's done by a villain or a morally ambiguous character.
Still, it was "Pulp Fiction" -- a movie where a tiny fraction of the number of people are killed, where we were forced to deal with the thought of what it means to kill someone and where there is at least an attempt at dealing with issues of morality -- that Bob Dole called "a nightmare of depravity" while praising the thoughtless brutality of "True Lies."
Bob Dole is my favorite conservative Republican (hey, he's funny! he uses Viagra! what's not to love?), but talk about hypocracy....

There's a programme called My Three Sons? I want to see it - having three sons, it must be right for me. We get Malcolm In The Middle here, which also features the three son scenario. I couldn't tell you what the theme music was.
The real prize from me would be for anyone who can decipher the words to Top Cat. I spent hours musing over this as a kid. I remember 'close friends get to call him TC', but what the hell came after that? It sounded like 'Froze my head, it's whipping the tea'.

it is not like your house otis. it has fred macmurray, fred mertz, meredith mcrae on good days, tramp and a wholesomeness that blew right through the summer of love like it never happened. you could try it, but it may not be what you're looking for. if it doesn't work out, maybe check out "bonanza" or "the big valley" for other american takes on the 3 sons deal.

The image of Fred McMurray's near perfect dad is so ingrained in the minds of many under 50 Americans that a lot of them get traumatized when they see him play no goodniks in "Double Indemnity" and "The Apartment"
Also, after Fred Mertz (aka William Frawley) died, he was replaced by the great William Demarest (or was it the other way 'round?) as Uncle Charlie -- who was featured in I think almost every single one of Preston Sturges films. If you haven't seen Bill Demarest play Officer Kockenlocker in "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek"...well, you need to!

Are you kidding? I've seen that show like, twice, and the theme song still gets stuck in my head. It's They Might Be Giants, and it goes, "You're not the boss of me, and you're not so tough," or at least that's how it goes when it plays on repeat in my head, which it's doing right now. Thanks a lot, Otis.Otis Westinghouse wrote:We get Malcolm In The Middle here, which also features the three son scenario. I couldn't tell you what the theme music was.

Yes, no, maybe
I don't know
Can you repeat the question?
You're not the boss of me now,
You're not the boss of me now,
You're not the boss of me now,
And You're not so big.
You're not the boss of me now,
You're not the boss of me now,
You're not the boss of me now,
And You're not so big.
Life is unfair.

the song is called POR UNA CABEZA .......i saw that movie some while ago so i can´t really tell if it is Carlos Gardel´s version.....
Gardel did record this tango song and it became one of his all time greatest hits....

...the promise of indulgence in my confidential voice approached inmortal danger but you´ll never know how close....
So, you're saying that Argentine "King of the Tango" Carlos Gardel composed to theme "Malcolm in the Middle"? Now THAT's a piece of trivia!
