I'm going to go ahead and say that while Sgt. Pepper was very important for the time (I can't say myself, since I wouldn't be released for another 13 months) Revolver has emerged as the iconic album of its time. I've turned a few people onto the Beatles over the years, and while they'll usually give...

I didn't mention this above, but I'll say it again. I saw him at Toad's Place in New Haven, probably around 1995. He played a pretty standard set compared to most others of the time, with a couple of detours: 1) "Christine Sixteen" (by Kiss) as an intro, and 2) "Mama You Been On My Mi...

I've backed off of my "buying everything Buckley" stance as well. I liked the expanded Sin-é package, as it gave a better picture of what those nights were like. And the expanded Grace would have been fine if half of it wasn't already on the EP set (which I bought, and recently sold). Lis...

True, Hawk, but I'm one of those freaks who still gets excited about packaging. Just the record store geek in me. I'm glad the songs are available a la carte, since it doesn't "force" anyone to shell out for the songs they own already.

Well, it's only his third wife (or second, assuming Graeme Thompson's info is on the money) but yeah, the interviewer sounded like he was something of a fanboy -- as if he'd been plucked from this very forum! Right now EC's looking back. I'd like to see what he does next (read=new). In the meantime,...

This probably belongs in another thread by now, but... I bought the Rock & Roll Music collection, simply because it had the two new songs. I wouldn't mind having the rest of the Hip-O series, but I'm passing since I still have my Columbia, Ryko and Rhino CDs. And I'm thankful that there aren't a...

"Working Week" opened the live segment of the webcast, and we in the audience thought it was great. The energy didn't let up from there, even through such a slow one (albeit a crowdpleaser) as "Kid About It". I think he does better when he can start on his own time rather than to...

He's been using his image to sell product for monstrously huge multinational corporations since 1977. Where have you been? Haven't you noticed his major label record deals? His appearances on commercial television? His magazine interviews and photo shoots? His movie roles? It only took 18 days and ...

I concur -- heartily. The great thing about the Naxos titles is that they're well-played performances by hungry musicians who are just happy to play, which helps keep the price down.

Couple of notes from the Webcast last night -- at the end of the first set, Elvis said (in a nod to The Prisoner?) "Good night children, everywhere", then added "Goodnight Frank, goodnight Dex". We did see Diana outside the backstage door, so I wonder who's watching the boys.

It depends on the venue. If you show up with a parent/guardian, they'll probably let you in after warning the parent/guardian left and right about letting you drink. You're better off with someone that age; Toad's Place in New Haven just got shut down for underage drinking, so they're going to be lo...
